Publisher's summary

Audiobook four of the best-selling Eden's Gate series!

Edgewood is under attack, and the threat of war lingers across the Serpent Sea. A thief is becoming a thorn in Gunnar's side, and a tempting elf is getting a little feisty.

In order to protect their village, the members of Unity will need to work together to level up and find better gear. They'll need to lay the foundation of a castle that can serve as a fortification from intruders.

But what if there's a better way?

When Gunnar learns the king of Highcastle will grant an audience to anyone who wins an arena championship, he decides to enter the competition as a gladiator. If he can earn a meeting with the ailing king and persuade him to stop Dryden before his dragon flies, he can save Edgewood and countless lives. He'll also get his name posted in every arena, which could lead Rachel one step closer to finding him.

The arena is a spectacle where people gather to watch fighters put their skills to the test, earn fame, and take home gold. Does Gunnar have what it takes to become a champion, or has he bitten off more than he can chew?

overall, decent. we all understand addiction, don't write about it. luckily, it was short lived. stick with the action and gaming. (I mean leveling)

Great series, short books.

I've spent close to 100 dollars on this series now, for what would be considered one book from other authors, like George R.R. Martin.

Wow. So good it seemed short.

love this series, every book is as good as the first. The fourth book seemed like half of a book and I wish he would of just kept this book going until the arena was done and the kings sickness is revealed as a spell. But the book is amazing and I'm looking forward to the next.

bridge story

This story was not as good as the previous ones but i feel that that was mostly because it was mostly tiding up loose ends and setting up for the next part of the story. The beginning and end are really good but the middle would best be described as filler. There are a couple obvious audio patches but they arn't disruptive. Overall a good book that leaves me excited for the next one.

Narrator still choppy, but good storyline

The narrator is still choppy sounding, but the storyline is good so I push forward. He seems to be improving some, but still a ways to go.

Good book and series. But have some issues.

narrator's performance was good. but the development of the MC goes back and forth. after his experience of in the sands, you would think that he will wisen/toughen up. The author tries to portray him as a tough n harden man but also still can be soft at times. it wasnt done well and it made the MC somewhat a naive/clueless and shifts to a sceptic too suddenly.

too much unnecessary detail.

It is not necessary to constantly cover level information and it gets really irritating and becomes grating. otherwise great storyline.
