Publisher's summary

Heroes don't stand for themselves. They stand for others who cannot.

Betrayed by those they'd taken in and narrowly avoiding a disaster of untold proportions, Lyrian and his friends are once again thrust into a fight for their very survival, this time against Carver and his band of murderous adventurers. But as their newfound war quickly reaches a stalemate, both sides find themselves scrambling for a way to break it, while viciously battling one another for every inch of ground that they can steal in the process.

Yet just as Lyrian and the others manage to gain an advantage that could very well end the conflict, they find their world turned upside down as an even greater enemy appears on the horizon. Pushed to the brink, it will take every ounce of cunning and courage they have to find a way to survive.

Assuming they can at all.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

epic stories, told well, with a good mix of humor and a lovable group of characters.

Not the best of series

Starts a bit slow and scattered. Finally about a third of the way through it seems to gain traction and direction. Don’t get me wrong it’s still good just not as good as the first few books. Seemed rushed with a lot of filler content but delivers later. Worth the purchase.

best in the series....so far.

well, I feel like it goes without saying, but if you listened to the series this far keep going. it's wonderful and the characters are fantastic and there are always new surprises right around the corner. and here is a little tip, make sure you stick around to the very end of the book. Luke Daniel's outtakes had me rolling on the ground laughing. it made my whole morning.

Soo worth waiting for!

Great follow up! Don't want to spoil so I can only say that the storyline is soo good in this one!
Also, extra bonus points for including the end-stats and the bloopers :-)

Good Forth Edition to the series

Good book overall. It had tons of meaty story and progression which is exactly what I wanted from this book. If you liked the previous editions then you will like this one. Two small issues made me knock one star off. One was word choice. Often the same descriptive words would be used in rapid succession when a different word, or no word at all would have been better. Happened all throughout the book. The second is that Lyrian sometimes came off as too important and all knowing. I understand that in this genre the main character is sorta like our player character, so it makes sense that the story revolves around Lyrian, but I would have liked to see the other characters come up with ideas, complete tasks, and win some fights without needing Lyrion in some way. Not a huge gripe, just would be nice to get more of the OG squad with some agency. Hope the next book comes soon!

Another Great Installment.

Everything I hoped it would be. Our main characters continue to grow as we see more and more of the greater world of events.

Wow, Just Wow!

If you’re reading this book, then you’ve invested a lot in the series. Luke, just gave all of us AO fans a great big holiday present, with this book. The story is amazing. A fitting conclusion to the story, if this is it? Yes, it reads like this is the end for AO. At least for now. Don’t worry, every last thread is pulled and the story is tied up very nicely.

Luke Daniels provides another masterful job of bringing the characters and story to life.
