Publisher's summary

An upbeat guide for single women on how to navigate the crazy world of modern dating and live their best lives, whether single or coupled It's easy to fall into a bad relationship with dating today, especially for single women. From living in fear of being "ghosted" to enduring endless well-meaning questions about why you haven't found Mr. Right yet, it's tough to be unattached without feeling you're somehow inadequate or doomed to spend life alone and depressed! According Dr. Jenny Taitz, acclaimed relationship psychologist and behavioral therapy specialist, it's time for a reality check: single women are not a "problem" to be "solved". In How to Be Single, Dr. Taitz draws on clinical research, hundreds of patient interviews, and positive psychology principles to bust the myths that relationships are cure-alls for unhappiness and being single is "bad". Instead, this clever, inspiring guide shows savvy single ladies how to stop overanalyzing romantic encounters, get over regrets or guilt about failed relationships and dates that disappeared, and identify and cultivate the values and connections that make them happiest. Dr. Taitz also shares proven strategies for building fulfilling lives around themselves first, helping single women better identify what they want and need in a partner and become more skillful daters in the process. The result is women living their best lives, with or without a partner. Author bio: Jennifer L. Taitz, Psy.D., A.B.P.P., is a board-certified cognitive behavioral clinical psychologist and a certified dialectical behavioral therapist who has written for Fox News Health and The Huffington Post. The author of End Emotional Eating and a founding board member of the New York City Association for Contextual Behavior Science, Dr. Taitz has presented at conferences nationally and internationally on novel clinical applications in mindfulness and relationships. She lives in Los Angeles, CA, where she has a clinical psychology and counseling practice.

helpful

The book started out a little clinical and boring but then it got more heartfelt and hopeful. I think this is a great lesson for most modern humans who feel we need to be partnered up to be worth something.

Valuable Insights for Singles

As a single woman who has personally experienced some of the challenges the author discusses in this book, I found 'How to Be Single and Happy' to be quite valuable. Despite the author being married, her insights and advice remained highly convincing and applicable to singles like me who are navigating the complexities of singlehood. The book impressively draws from extensive research and the author's firsthand experience as a practicing psychologist. While it's not without limitations, for those seeking guidance on embracing singlehood with a positive outlook, this audiobook provides a wealth of solid insights.

Ruminate No More

Jennifer does a great job addressing this issue. I will definitely listen to this book again. Her work is valuable, laying out strategy to progress through rumination and into a healthier mind, and sense of self.

So helpful and not just the single people

I really enjoyed this book because it's so practical and reasonates with what dating is like now. I find the advice helpful and doable. I think it takes someone who has been in this relationship marathon/treadmill to understand how it feels. Even at 50, I can empathize with all the patient stories. I have recommended this for all my friends with anxiety too.

Fantastic

I’ve been going to therapy and practicing many of the techniques outlined in this book for years- however, there was something about the way it was put together here; some of the examples and stories that gave me more hope that I can be ok and that, perhaps, there is more I can try or be doing to lead a more fulfilling life with or without a partner.

Useful for newbies

Great summary of basic cognitive skills to those who are new to mindfulness, gratefulness practice, and other pretty basic self help skills for positive thinking. I’ve spent years cultivating these things so it was not anything very particular to singleness. I wish I had had this basic summary all in one place when I first started.

Very helpful

The narrator is a little sing-songy, but still engaging.
