Publisher's summary

Cultivate deep connections wherever you go. Break down conflict, misunderstanding, and loneliness.

Healthy relationships involve our feelings being heard, understood, and validated. Unfortunately, this is the exception rather than the rule. Are you doing it wrong and alienating people versus comforting them? Find out how to walk this fine line.

Uncover the biggest obstacle to the intimate, healthy relationships that we desire and deserve.

How to Listen, Hear, and Validate is all about our top communication struggle - our tendency to react instead of respond, and forget that our goal is to build bridges rather than walls. You’ll learn what you’ve been doing wrong, and why your efforts at getting closer to people - in deep or light manners - have failed. You’ll learn actionable techniques and frameworks to have the most productive conversations of your life - ones that will walk away with people praising how empathetic you are.

Most importantly, you will gain profound insights on how to reprogram yourself into a natural communicator.

No more unresolved issues, struggles to get close, or failures from ineffective communication.

Patrick King is an internationally best-selling author and social skills coach. His writing draws of a variety of sources, from scientific research, academic experience, coaching, and real life experience. His struggles in his early relationships has inspired him to unravel practical ways to cultivate meaningful, reciprocative interactions.

Establish vulnerable, fulfilling and satisfying relationships.

  • The big mistakes when we "listen" to others
  • How to structure a style for effective validation and empathy
  • Scripts to validate others, to know exactly what to say
  • Simple tactics to make others feel loved and seen
  • How to use empathetic communication and active listening techniques

Did you know? At the heart of most communication problems is a lack of validation.

Are we truly paying attention to the messages others are conveying, or are we just waiting for our turn to speak? Are we listening to reply, or listening to hear? After applying the proven techniques from this book, you’ll be able to increase love, respect and satisfaction to your relationship. You’ll become the person everyone wants in their life.

Connect deeper and better. Raise the standard for your relationships.

helpful

Raised by a narc mother and a deaf semi absent father, I developed my dads listening skills and my moms validating skill. I am very sensitive and feel disconnected from social settings. I'm reading a list of his books to help me better myself. it does bring comfort to me listening because it's giving great examples I had never known I needed to work on. How can one work on something if they don't know. Great material.

Very helpful book

I found this book when looking for books on this exact subject. I found it helpful and appreciate so much what is being communicated. I am going to have all my kids listen to this for school next year since we will be homeschooling. I am going to try and put into practice what is taught in this book. I highly recommend it for couples as well. LIstening, Hearing, and Validating will only bring you closer and help as you work through those issues that will arrise.

Saving Marriages

Had this book for awhile and just didn't finish it. got into an argument with my wife where I walked away and considered divorce as an option next year she doesn't change. I prayed about it and told God if he wants this marriage to work something needs to change or one of us will be out very soon. I then read this book entirely. I'll let you know if it helped or not in reality 6 months from now but as far as today I'll say with God's grace, and apply this book, maybe we can make it till death due us part.

Great info but wish it had more examples.

This is a must read for anyone, but especially married couples. I wish it was longer with more practical day to day examples of everyday miscommunications. The book is full of necessary info for the reader, but examples would ensure the reader actually understands how to use the info in their day to day life.
