About this listen

A tight-knit group of buddy gamers. A relentless galactic conqueror. One big ol' ax and a whole bag of magic.

Chris and his friends had been hearing voices begging for help, but aren’t dreams supposed to stay dreams? When they finally answer the call, they’re pulled into a fantastic world with themes similar to modern role-playing games. The world of Brindolla. This is what every gamer has always wanted...right?

There's one major problem: War. The big baddie of the universe has come to collect another planet for his relentless march. The Brindollan Gods have the power to hold him back only for a short while, which they can only hope will be long enough to give Chris and his buddies a fighting chance. Either this team gets rid of War’s vanguard of minions and generals, giving the Gods a chance to keep him out for good...or War comes for Earth.

The group is ready to dive into combat, magic, and any other obstacles that come their way. No matter what needs to be done, Chris and his buddies will always do it together.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book!

I am an avid fan of litrpg titles. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of this title at first. I don't know why but something about the description didn't reach out to me, but seeing as I had the credit I decided to give it a try.

The story is engaging and put a new spin on genre that is very quickly becoming one of my favorites. I enjoyed the backstory given to explain why the planet they are warped to functions as video games do. It was a surprising change from many of the other lit RPGs I have listened to.

The narrator has a very upbeat vibe to his voice. He's very good at giving the listener a sense of what the main character's attitude toward the situation is. The only thing that I could say as a downside is that I sometimes lost track of which character was speaking.

One of my favorite aspects of this story is the great variety an imagination that the author put into the various races. I am also a big fan of kitsune and their abilities. I found it very enjoyable to have the main character choose such an interesting race. I do have to say though that the initial contact with his trainer implied that he would use his transformed form more in battle.

This is a great listen and I highly recommend it.

A great story with a gorgeous voice range

The narrator does such a great job with the various voices for the characters. The story really captures the comradarie of a gaming group. So much fantasy action, banter, and humor.

I loved this story!

I have been falling in love with these types of stories. Where the main character get "teleported" to a different world and forced to live and survive there. Can't wait to get the next book.

Definitely Worth Your Time!

This was a great start to a series. This book starts off at a quick pace and doesn’t slow down. I’m looking forward to book two.

Good but

The story is good but the author tends to wander and overly states some ideas he wants to communicate.

Not to bad for a first book

The characters are like able, the story line is jam packed with action. Within the world, the magic system is simple with unknown deapth. Takes parts from alot of stories and fits them in a nice framework for lots of books to come.
