Publisher's summary

Do you find yourself helping others even when you don't want to? Are you always feeling guilty when you tell others no? Do your friends tend to guilt trip you into doing things for them? Are you tired of feeling like you have no control over your life? Are you tired of being victimized? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then Manipulation is the perfect book for you. Inside this book by Sarah Nielsen, you are going to learn everything you need to know about manipulation, including why people do it and how you can learn to deal with it.

Some of the first things you will learn about when listening to Manipulation are the warnings sign of an emotional manipulator. These warning signs will give you ideas of what to look for when trying to determine if a person is manipulating you. Some of the most basic signs include negative reinforcement as well as punishing you in some form for not doing what they want.

While it is important to learn the warning signs of emotional manipulators, knowing the types of manipulators out there can help narrow things down even more. Manipulation covers both topics in detail, allowing you to gain a very thorough understanding of what you need to look out for.

Knowing about manipulators can help you, but once you are a target you are always going to be a target unless you make some life-altering changes. The author of Manipulation will explain what makes you a target for manipulation. They will also take you through what you need to do to make yourself a harder target, to hopefully break the vicious cycle of manipulation.

book is wonderful. not a fan or the narrator.

book five stars. narrator zero. i wont purchase another book with his narration. very monotone and no pauses. he reads to the end of a section then says the next section title without taking a beat. i would like to offer to narrate this book for free just so this book could have a more appropriate and alternative offering. also this book needs a womans voice as it has a victimization component to it and most victims of manipulation are women. i want to recommend this book far and wide! the content is invaluable for all who find themselves in a relationship they are having trouble explaining. this will be a life manual book for me and i am grateful to the author.

Good. Long bonus needs work.

The book on manipulation was helpful as a basic intro to the topic. There is a bonus book for over an hour after the manipulation book. The bonus book is on boundaries. It's somewhat helpful, but not well organized.

Great insight on manipulation

I'm not a very good manipulator. And I used to be easily manipulated. But thanks to this great book, not only am I more prepared to stop people from taking advantage of me, but I am now able to better take advantage of other people.

Wasn't overly impressed

What would have made Manipulation: How to Recognize and Outwit Emotional Manipulation and Mind Control in Your Relationships better?

Bought this book to learn about manipulation and how to use it in a positive manner. This explained what manipulation was but wasn't what I was looking for. It focuses on how to recognize manipulators rather than the actions to fight back or use manipulation to your advantage (again in a positive manner). Could be a good book for people who struggle.
