About this listen

Threadbare has not had a very good time of it recently. His little girl has been taken from him, and he must travel the kingdom, finding allies old and new, living and dead, to help him rescue Celia.

Fortunately, he's got a voice now and access to all those fun skills he couldn't before use. He may only be a very small teddy bear, but he's got the persistence to plow through dungeons of rascally raccoon monsters, the wiles to turn a town full of undead on its ear, and the sanity to survive an encounter with a mediocre old one.

However, Threadbare's little girl is growing up now, and her own path is hard and brutal. Will she even have a use for her old teddy bear when they meet again? Will they both survive the encounter?

Warning: Contains profanity, violence, and a creepy villain who likes tentacles way too much.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

this series shouldn't be as good as it is, but it's incredible! I love the leveling, I love the characters, and I love that it never goes the way you'd expect! keep it up Andrew!

no right to be so good!

still think the f bombs are unnecessary. this story is pg 13 so the language doesn't line up. solid 4;stars otherwise

I liked it as much as the first book, although the parts with the king aren't as good as when threadbare is front and center. Very creative and great narration.

Great sequel

While the first book was mostly safe for younger readers in the age appropriate content realm of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, book two of the Threadbare series adds more dark content, light adult content, and foul language. Don't get me wrong, the story is still excellent and still whimsical. It's just whimsical as F#&*)! with a lot of sexual or dark innuendo spread throughout. The story of a teddy bear that goes out to save his person is surprising heart-warming when the foul mouthed dwarf or Orc shaman aren't cussing or making lightly veiled raunchy statements. Unless you are a heartless demon, you can't help but like the MC. There are many positive messages throughout and I don't think it would be that hard to remove the questionable content and make the next middle school reading list. Well worth the read and I got book 3 in the sale too, so I'm off to read that. The only real complaint I have is that the character status reading must be 5 minutes, but luckily it's only read occasionally, and tapping the 30-second forward button several times fixes that.

Not for kids

Awesome series. Can’t wait for book 3 to be narrated! This is a remarkable tale, not to be missed!

Where is book 3?

For real though the hilarity on top of the rather intense story makes this book amazing. The way it's written puts a smile on my face and the narrator is superb. The way he reads the stats is perfect.

Hail The Great Threadbare

Great protagonist, nice twists, fun pop culture references, great narrator... just great all around. Recommended if you like your fantasy with a nice dose of humor.

Love me some Threadbare and friends

Wow - things got very dark toward the end. Dark enough that I won't get the third book. However, the writing and narrator are wonderful.

So much darker

is it by far one of the best litrpg is I've ever listened to. I was especially impressed by the nod to HP Lovecraft. that entire chapter was hilarious and impressed me because it's been a long time since I've had to look up a word used in a fiction. that aside very happy with the development of the characters and the world mechanics. I am also loving the writing there is a great balance of prose and literature to go with the gamelit tropes. also the fact that you've managed to find so many puns with the word raccoon guarantees I'm going to listen to this series all over again once I finished it. On to the next book!

excellent
