About this listen

Trapped in the game. Forced back to level 1. What's next, permadeath?

Sky Realms Online is the largest and most popular Virtual Reality MMORPG ever made. Set amongst the mystical, floating islands of Hankarth, it's played and enjoyed by millions every hour.

Until something goes wrong.

Unable to log out, players find themselves reduced to level one, and in the starting zones. They receive a cryptic message from the developers stating that for unknown reasons, they are trapped in the game and may have to live out their lives within the virtual world.

Hall is one of the those trapped in the game. He’s been playing Sky Realms Online as a spear-wielding Skirmisher ever since the beta. And instead of panicking as many do, he decides to make the most of it; to play the game and live his new life, all while quietly hoping the developers will find a fix.

It doesn’t take Hall long to find out that, while some aspects of the game are the same, the difficulty level is beyond anything he's ever experienced.

Together, with a new party of trapped players and NPCs with canned answers, Hall will find out just how different Sky Realms Online has become, and how playing a game is different from living the game....

Experience the start of this unforgettable LitRPG Adventure today! It's perfect for fans of J.A. Hunter, Dakota Krout, and Edward Brody.

Performed by Pavi Proczko, narrator of Eden's Gate and Continue Online.

Solid Litrpg

I have read a ton of Litrpg as a lot of people have. If you like the leveling and statistics this book will not disappoint. Slow leveling that the mc and group have to work for.

A few attractive elements includes thought out characters with reactions to them stuck in the game. Also the story wasn’t everywhere. Sure some events will unfold in future books but, completing the quests that drove the story kept me reading and satisfied.

The ending wrapped it up nicely and the epilogue will definitely bring me back for book 2.

Of course I got it on audible. The narrator did very well bringing the characters alive. Well worth a credit to chance on for a month or buying that tempting 3 credit deal. Win in my opinion.

A Great LitRPG

This is a well written, nicely developed LitRPG. I have listened to others (some good some not) and have played several MMORPG myself. I found this start to a new series very entertaining. There's magic and mayhem, action and adventure, sim versus reality. Although there's not a definitive plot to the story; i.e. find this relic, fight this boss, save this person(s), I found I didn't mind. The end hints at things to come and it was actually refreshing. If you enjoy D'n'D or Forgotten Realms then you should check this book out. I'm looking forward to the next installment. The narration was well done. Although new to me, Pavi Proczko does a great job with varying the many voices and bringing the characters to life.

Thrilling Gaming Experience!

Brought me back to when I used to have time to play games with my brother! Really fun, great characters, and sense of adventure. Highly recommended!

A fun story with good flow!

This is not the best written book out there, but it does shine in its own way by focusing on the fun part of it all not taking itself too seriously.

The beginning of the story, which is the part where the author explaines how the players end up in this VR world is really vague and you are left with a lot of questions to why and how it is possible, but does not hinder the main story in any way.

The main character Hall does not spend a lot of time thinking about how he ended up in the game world, or being miserable about it, but rather sets out to discover what this new life and world has to offer. This makes it so the story starts off quick with a very natural flow as Hall explores what is new about the game world he knows so much about from countless of hours put into the game.

Evrything from there happens naturally and gives the story a nice flow with clear motive and intent from the chracters when they make decisions. I noticed very early that the story seemed to focus on the fun of it, rather than taking itself too seriously. The story feels like a journey through your favorite RPG game with just enough stats that it is still fun and enjoyable to listen to, while still feeling like it is still a game.

If you are looking for an easygoing story that is not about some grand problem only the MC can resolve, but rather the fun journey through the world of Sky Realms Online I would recommend this book to you!

If you like LitRPG you'll enjoy this

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

TLDR; Fairly standard LitRPG, if you like the genre you'll enjoy this. If you like fantasy, in general, you'll probably like this.

This is a fairly standard bit of LitRPG, the main character is stuck in a VRMMO, that takes place in a Fantasy world. There's a bit of mystery as to the how and why they're stuck in this one, which will probably form the overall progression of the story. This book serves as the starting point, what the world is like, who the party is going to be, what the classes are, etc. The story is a fun one, while not taking the whole thing too lightly, nor too harshly. Some characters react well to be stuck in the game, others... don't. If you've watched Sword-art Online, this has a lot of that feeling to it, a bit better (than the anime, I haven't gone through the books), but if you enjoyed SAO, this will fill that niche.

Overall, pick this up if you're looking for a sold LitRPG, or are in the mood for some great fantasy.

Couldn't do it

I rarely write reviews like this, but the MC was just so apoplectic it just deterred me from really getting into the book. Basically, this MC is like a robot he feels so little after what happened to him it just got to me on a low level and was just super annoying to listen to.

Now don't get me wrong the narrator does an amazing job and I have no qualms with him. It's just the MC doesn't seem to feel and I just couldn't do it. I tried and if the MC had developed more and realized just how major what happened to him was I would have been captivated by this book. It is a good story it just has a very odd almost robotic MC.

If an MC that just rolls with the punches and doesn't let a single thing bother him is your thing then go ahead and get this book it really is an interesting story I just couldn't personally deal with this MC. Plus it's got great nararation.

Enjoyable but don't overthink it.

It a decent story for a long trip, Had trouble suspending my disbelief at times. If something like that had really happened, now they would start off at level 1 and not have a help guide or major bonuses,

Sky Realms Review

Great otherworld book with a lot of details for the game they're stuck inside of. The narrator did a good job seperating characters with his voice.

Blown away!

This book transported me back in time to the good old days when my life on Ultima Online was more important than “real life.”

The system is familiar. The world is familiar but super unique. The characters are well-created.

Pavi knocks the performance out of the park too.
