About this listen

Though I'm part of the most powerful family in Elantio, I failed to produce mana on my Manifestation day. Thus, I was relegated to the most shameful place for someone of my status: the Archives.

What may have seemed like a sentence truly was a blessing in disguise. I may be a mule—one with the blood of a sorcerer yet unable to channel any magic—but what I lack in raw power I make up for with my tenacity. It's in those Archives that I searched and searched for a way to bypass my curse.

Now, after years of study and browsing through hundreds of books, I may have found a solution. A type of sacred ink that holds magical powers and that could be used to create scrolls.

So here I am, sitting at my desk, ready to start experimenting when, all of a sudden, a team of gnome assassins burst into the Archives and try to take me down.

It's now or never. It's time to put theory into practice! In a hurry, I grab a piece of scroll and manage to scribe the magic circle for the Principles of Fire and Explosion. The resulting flamethrower that rushes out of the paper burns my assailants to a crisp.

I may be safe for now, but I need answers. Who would go after a nobody like me, and why? And where can I get more of that ink to continue my experimentations?

As I venture out into the outside world, I run into a pack of wolves in pursuit of a woman. I manage to chase the beasts away but end up losing consciousness. When I wake up, I discover that the woman used the remaining ink to give me one of those tattoos she proudly wears on her skin.

It turns out that this tattoo is magical and opens up a world of possibilities. My actions now grant me experience points, which I can spend to gain access to new powers, spells, and specializations—such as Scrollmaster, Bookbinder, and Inkcaster. But it's a dangerous world out there. Since the gods were slain and humanity made a pact with demons to grant them their sorcerous power, no place is truly safe.

That's why I will need all the help I can get. That's why I will need to secure allies on top of developing my new powers as a Scrollmage. I may have been shunned by my own family, but nothing will stop me from creating my own band of merry adventurers!

Just couldn’t get into it.

At first it seemed alright, then it started sounding like a play by play as someone was playing a fantasy game.

The gaming type storyline is lame

I have listened to just about every TGR narrated book. This story has to be one of THE worst, IMHO . The constant hit point updates like an early 90s video game is really unnecessary and annoying.
I could tell that TGR was really trying to sell this one as adventurous. not even sure who green lit this project .
DO BETTER NEXT TIME .
