Publisher's summary

What if conflicts at home, conflicts at work, and conflicts in the world stem from the same root cause? What if we systematically misunderstand that cause? And what if, as a result, we systematically perpetuate the very problems we think we are trying to solve?

From the authors of Leadership and Self-Deception comes an international best seller that instills hope and inspires reconciliation. Through a moving story of parents who are struggling with their own children and with problems that have come to consume their lives, we learn from once-bitter enemies the way to transform personal, professional, and global conflicts, even when war is upon us.

okay

The very best narrator ever! However not very impressed with story itself, thought it was pretty boring....

A sublime, insightful book that challenges all who are in the human condition.

If you are looking for fluffy small talk, this is not the book for you.

However, if you want to grapple with the core issues that drive relationships on a personal or a collective basis this is a timeless classic whose relevance is as fresh as a newly delivered bouquet of cut flowers.

Working harder, and correcting our peers, our children and our spouses in order to "change" them is folly unless we have done the deep work necessary to be at peace with our own hearts.

The Anatomy of Peace opens the door to a precious glimpse into what is behind the wellness or sickness of our most important relationships. Even more importantly we learn how to re-tool our approach to relationships not with quick fix gimmicks, but by build deep, lasting, durable foundations.

So much more than wisdom!

Most "self-help" books are long on philosophy and short on useful direction. Not so with this one. If you choose to actually put the plan into action, you and everyone who has to deal with you wiill be richly rewarded.

Simply Powerful

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Anatomy of Peace, Expanded Second Edition?

At the heart of the book is taking responsibility for your own mindset - your way of approaching other people. As the author and narrator so powerfully illustrate, we will either perceive people as things or as other people. This provides a simple tool to use when reflecting on the challenges we all face. If we treat another person as a thing, then we are stuck in our "box." To get out of our box, we have to relate to others as people equal to ourselves.

Any additional comments?

The story format provides an effective format to share a message that can transform our world into a much richer place, even if everyone else has not read the book. I immediately listed to the book a second time, to reinforce the learning, and bought several print copies to give to both friends and colleagues.

The illustrations provided in a supplemental PDF are useful. It is challenging to incorporate into an audio book, but the images are effective ways of remembering the lessons.

Why not employ actors?

Great book! Too bad I found it annoying to listen to what sounded like a man mocking women as the narrator gave voice to different characters. Next time either hire actors to voice each character or just read the dialogue in the same voice throughout the book.
