Publisher's summary

The System has taken the Earth, but all is not lost.

With the advantage of the mix-up of starting in the Dungeon, Randidly has been able to found a Village for survivors to gather. With their growing forces, they’ve begun to nurture other outposts of humanity, teaching them the hard-earned lessons he paid for in blood and sweat.

Yet the tests thrown at them by the System are not yet done.

The Village’s tribulation lurks in nearby Turtletown, fleeing a direct confrontation and wearing many faces. Hordes of monsters gather, preparing to strike when they least expect it. Most worryingly, unsavory characters begin to emerge from amongst the survivors, taking advantage of the chaos to benefit themselves.

Amidst this storm, a message comes from Shal. Randidly's teacher needs his assistance to protect the legacy of his family. With the help of Lyra Silver, he hatches a daring plan to finally catch the slippery Tribulation, once and for all.

Because even if it takes him to an alien world and requires him to trust the safety of the Village to other survivors, Randidly Ghosthound always pays his debts.

Not as bad as some said

First off I love this series, and this book wasn't a filler book at all. we got some serious character development for all of the characters introduced in the last book and this one. i cannot wait till the next book comes out.

almost everything about this story is great.

Almost everything about this story is great, except when it comes to stats. in particular there are two things. the fact that reading Randidly's status page takes literally 5 minutes (I eventually got curious and timed it), and the entire idea of the anti status potion Randidly starts taking is way too contrived and useless. the initial idea behind it was to block the status notifications for training purposes when he started taking it. Randidly continues taking agree that training session but so readers can continue to get updates on his progress now instead of blocking notifications perfectly it's "Oh it's almost time for another dose of anti magic potion. suddenly I can struggle to it but it's all glitchy and weird!"

you can't just create a magic potion that block statuses then make it not block statuses when it's inconvenient. you can't have the best of both worlds and ignore the consequences. if it were up to me I would have made use if that potion. Then, once the training montage was over, either say the potion ran out or Randidly is developing a resistance to it with continued doses. Then, utilizing Randidly's massive willpower decide NOT TO CHECK HIS STATUS EVERY 20 MINUTES! I mean seriously! you don't have to create a magic potion just to avoid spamming your readers with 5 minutes of bloatware. hell the summarized update to just his level ups after long training sessions are annoying enough!
...
So, with that rant out of the way... The story is pretty fun to experience. Instead of the expression strength through skill levels and stats that was focused on with book one Randidly is ACTUALLY getting good. his ability to kick ass isn't just a number anymore, if you know what I'm trying to say.

Good Second Book

The series picked up a bit. Only problem is stat sheets. They have become a lot less common but we don't need to see the stat sheets of random characters. I have to skip 7 minutes or so to get over randidly's stat sheet. Overall the second book was very satisfying. If you're looking for another series(I have a hard time finding good ones) Check out the master hunter k series.

Great

Loved it. I’m just worried that it will go down a bad path. It’s on the edge now but I have high hopes.

Good Story starting to drag on

Author is still world building in this book and it shows, not a problem, this is a massive universe he is creating. He created a story so far that has characters who character can be understood and pictured in the mind, and put it in a story that I find interesting. Though the story is dragging on now. I found out that this story was initially created on a website called Royal Road, and authors there create their story one page (chapter) at a time. So, in that way the way the story drags I think is acceptable, just not for a published book. Example: Main character will spend time just grinding levels, and that is the only relevance to the story.

Power fantasy improves on the first act

Enjoyed this listen. This book is more interested in expanding the universe than tying up loose ends.

A delightfully read book jammed pack with character depth, storyline crescendos and setting's that wow the mind. I'm also glad that the MC is throttling back and bringing back some of his softer emotions!

So I did some research after the 1st book came out

Evidently the author isn't just hopping onto the bandwagon, from what I gather he was actually was on RoyalRoad waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay b4 a bunch of the other books we've seen come from that site. And you'd be really surprised how many fantasy books on audible started out on Royal Road.

Anyways, it turns out Randidly is an OG, this story was ahead of its time, and it looks like the authors missed the memo about converting from web novel to Kindle/Audible. So a bunch of other ppl made the conversion earlier, and if u didn't know any better Randidly can look like a less good copycat of books like "He Who Fights Monsters" or "Defiance of The Fall" ...when in fact if anything they were influenced by Randidly.

My theory is that Randidly changed the game ...everybody who's played the game since has had the benefit of seeing it done b4. So other authors have been able to refine some of these concepts and build on them since Randidly came out. With that in mind its not surprising that its not as polished as these other stories. Also, a lot of these guys are self-published and they just had an idea and started off as amateur writers. Truthfully, Puddles4263 is perfectly competent, the writing itself isn't bad. Its the organization, and and some of the choices of tone that detract from it IMO.

Anyways, I'm glad the author is getting some credit and the opportunity to make a buck all these years later. That said, the final product isn't as good and the story kinda fumbles around a bit. But when this book was written it was exploring new ground, and doing things that had never been done b4 ...so give credit, where credit is due.
