Publisher's summary

In virtual reality, nothing is for real. Fake orcs pretend to fight phony elves. Priests go through the motions of casting blessings. Wizards defeat their enemies with digital illusions of combat spells.

Still, every game is only a part of something much bigger. Human nature doesn't change. People will always find a way to take advantage or even hurt someone, even if that someone ends up suffering real losses or dying the ultimate death in real life.

I'm John Doe, a necromancer and guardian of the dead. Still, this is only my game persona. Just an illusion. In reality, I'm a sleuth forced to follow a trail of clues. And to make it even worse, my employers' interests aren't limited to the game alone....

Not completely sure how to feel about the ending

The writing and narration are good and the overall progression is fine, but I wasn't too sure about the ending. The parts everyone played were ok and the plot twist was fun and welcome, but the I'll ast couple of minutes felt entirely too rushed to me. I wasn't entirely sure what the actual end deal was or what it meant. That all aside, the last two books, this one included, both felt a bit lacking overall in comparison to the world building of the first three books. I know the author had to set up a whole new world because it's a whole new game, but it felt so closed off compared to the first world. Still a good story over all, but I feel like this book was the least good out of the series.

True Lit TPG

I have listen to this series from start to finished and I have to say I am not disappointed. Don’t want to leave spoilers but story has alot of betrayal, story, and adventures. Really good read hope to find more like this 😄

Not if I’m happy or sad that it doesn’t a book 6 is coming out

I enjoyed this book like all the rest but couldn’t help but feel betrayed as time after time the Mc is given reasons to care about others like Neo but in the end he just can’t be bothered to really care about anyone’s feelings or goals but his own. I guess you could say he is pragmatic but I found Mc to be shallow and callous right to the end. While I couldn’t hate the Mc I really couldn’t (and I tried) bring myself to like him. He is just so selfish

part of me pleased that no book 6 is coming and the ending left me the option to make up a satisfying book 6 in my own head were he Mc finally gives up on the real world and returns to help neo.

Personally I hope author doesn’t write another book for this series and ruin what I have made up in my head as a good ending. If another book were to be released and the Mc returns to virtual reality just to save his own ass outside the game another time I think I just wouldn’t be able to handle the disappointment

Next Novel Please. ****Spoiler*****

Great action and surprises. I'm looming forward to the next Novel. I am surprised that the character was taken in by Isabella. The Cain and Abel storyline is cool and adds to the world that was/is being built.

The ending truly "WTF?" sucks.

Five excellent novels, completely crapped on by an abrupt and no-resolution (to three or four major & minor plot lines) ending. Honestly, I feel cheated.
