About this listen

Egor, a recent college grad, is stuck in a rut with his in-game character, Gor, in the VR world of Rakuen.

Dubbed the Dancing Barbarian by fellow players, Gor has been grinding away in the newbie sandbox for far too long. It's time for him to break out into the wider world! Only there can Egor and his crew—both old friends and new allies—truly make some serious cash. And who knows, they might even hit the mother lode.

Now that Gor's mythical pickaxe, which houses the soul of an ancient god, is bound to him by an unbreakable hex, no one can take it from him!

Or… can they?

Fun trip

This book is very entertaining. There are ups and downs in the story line, but no prolonged losses for the main character.

A great story, but a missed opportunity, that's understandable

In some ways, this is like a lighter discardium and that it touches on some of the things that happened in that series without put it in that world, which is sort of a missed opportunity to branch out with other characters that aren't part of the main story, but at the same time, it allows the author to stretch out. From being cast as one series author this is also 1 of those great things where you like the story. It's a shame that's just a 2 book series, and you would like more. The first one is really great stance on its own this one, as I said, before, it's a more flavor of discardium. Hopefully, he can bring some secondary characters or these characters in again. For another bridge of the series

missing impetus

the first book the grind was good as it set a nice foundation. and this book was good as well overall. but I was hoping for more of an impetus for egor that would propel him through the story like Scythe's threat status did in the Dis series. but the only motivation here is the wanting to play to make money. there is no bomb counting down the seconds or someting else to push the protagonist through the story and therefore seems kinda aimless.

also something that was a little annoying was 3 characters had the same names as in the Dis series - Krag, defiler, and crawler. I don't understand the reason for duplicating these characters here since it's the same universe, just a previous point in time. it's fairly distracting

I love the Dis series and was hoping I would feel the same with this series. I will probably geivebthe next book a shot, but at this point feeling somewhat disappointed

the bad language and silly slang

I've read or listened to every Dan book... level up, disgardium, sidus, knock out... the cussing and just weird use of slang in this book was offsetting... it was a little funny at first with the translate function in the book and it ended just horribly.... there is no reason for it and it made the book lesser
