About this listen

When a Hero falls, who rises up to catch them?

Once more, and against all odds, Marcus and the rest of Virtus have managed to snatch victory from the jaws of total defeat, capturing not only Carver but also destroying the orc advance completely.

Yet there is no peace in store for the exhausted victors, for not only must they pay the price for their desperate triumph, but they must also rise up once more to meet a new terror that has revealed itself.

A terror that, if left unchecked, will consume the world.

Dissapointing

Very little story progression. A couple of good stories, but mainly a filter for the next Book.

Exciting next book

I love the series and love the narrator! He makes it easy to listen to. This book had nice progression and I can’t wait for more!

did not see that coming. can't wait for the next one.

I liked the pacing. combat would occasionally be described as simply a blur. I would have liked to see a few glimpses into the blur more often. like the final group fight.

solid

good story. progressed well. not the biggest Luke Daniels fan. He's okay, but people voices change from book to book and there's not a ton of variation between morose, excitement, shouting, whispering etc.

A vision of what a future RPG should be

Wow what a great ride. When does the movie come out. I will be first in line.

“Let the age of heroes begin”

So far I think this series has been great and this book was a good continuation of the story for Virtus and Leeryan. Loved how the story ended with a great twist yet had me wishing there was at least one more chapter. At certain points I did feel that the book picked up it’s a pace a bit too much but overall the flow was great. Looking forward to the next book!

A return to (mostly) solo play

This book cut out the out of game world and even the guild management to focus on the adventure. It worked for this book and setup the next story but I found myself missing some aspects of them.

Pacing was consistent throughout though some more levity would have been enjoyed. Add more Constantine moments. The run away spell sigils were a key highlight.

Overall the narrator and story delivered. Excited to see where the story heads.

great continuation of the series 👏 👌

I enjoy the (leveling process) of the previous books but this one took it to a whole new level... you get answers to some questions, get to explore new places and dig into the lore of the books and a lot of action...over all I would read it again and recommend it 😉

Highly entertaining

I’ve never really run into a bad book in this series. So enjoyable with the depth of characters and the well-crafted story. Tine and again I found myself pleasantly surprised by the plot twists, reminiscent of works by Glen Cook (Black Company series) and William Gibson (Sprawl trilogy). Recommended for fantasy aficionados.

The Luke's once again create art!!

The book was a departure from the "we gotta defend Oldferd" in previous books. it was a great change. Over all I really really liked the book and the narrator did a wonderful job. The only issue I had was a recurring character gets kinda annoying when he shows up all the time. but, don't let that stop you. You should read this book!
