About this listen
What if the problem isn’t your partner—it’s stress? This relatable and empowering guide offers indispensable tools to stress-proof your relationship.
“Full of clear strategies for overcoming the overwhelm. A must-read!”—Eve Rodsky, New York Times bestselling author of Fair Play
Every week, couples come into Elizabeth Earnshaw’s therapy room claiming their relationship issues are stressing them out. “The reality is just the opposite,” she says. “The unprecedented collective stress we all face today is the cause of many relationship challenges couples are experiencing.” With ’Til Stress Do Us Part, this trusted expert shares the tools you need to protect yourself and your relationship from distress—and restore harmony, understanding, and love.
Beginning with an overview of many kinds of stress we face—from acute to chronic stress and even positive stress—Earnshaw uses client stories and personal experiences to reveal the visible and invisible strains on ourselves and our relationships. With warmth and humor, she shares research-backed practices to help you detect signs of overwhelm and take proactive measures to protect, refresh, and heal yourselves. You’ll discover journaling prompts, body-based exercises, scripts, boundary-setting guidelines and more for letting go of pressures and restoring intimacy.
Over the course of the book, you’ll learn how to:
• Set effective boundaries
• Self-soothe and self-regulate when life gets rough
• Take responsibility for what makes you happy
• Communicate with compassion rather than resentment
• Identify and cope with what’s in your control… and what’s not
• Reduce conflict and find more connection in your relationship
“When we become partners, we commit to taking on life’s troubles together,” says Earnshaw. Here is an essential resource for helping you return your relationship to what it should be—a refuge from stress in a turbulent and demanding world in which we always have each other’s backs.

Story
Conventional trauma treatments (talk therapy and medication) simply don't work for many trauma survivors, and now we know why. Researchers have identified the core symptom that drives most other symptoms—neurological dysregulation. It's an injury to your nervous system triggered by abuse and neglect in childhood, and it can profoundly impact your physical health, damage your ability to learn and focus, and hold you back from forming caring relationships. The good news is that healing is possible, and in Re-Regulated, author Anna Runkle (aka the Crappy Childhood Fairy) shows you how.

Systemic Shame is the socially engineered self-loathing that says we are solely to blame for our circumstances. It teaches that our consumption is moral and personal choice is our only tool of change. Systemic Shame tells us that poverty is remedied by hard-working people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, that marginalized people are responsible for their own oppression, and that massive global crises like climate change can be solved by switching to paper straws. When we inevitably blame ourselves for failing to do enough to combat structural injustices, we feel Systemic Shame.

This insight is what transforms a non-lucid life into a lucid one.” For those drawn to Tibet’s profound teachings for awakening to the true nature of reality - in the day or night - this guide shows us the way.

Story
It’s 2006. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The MANipulator manual. Keep your man interested and begging for more without playing games. So many women get in trouble in their love lives, and 99.9 percent of that trouble could have been avoided if they'd said "Well, f**k him!" a bit more often. Too many women are way too nice and compliant to their men, especially when these men don't deserve that kind of treatment. I, as a dating coach and author of books for women who want to get men, cannot take it anymore.

For most of Hailey Magee’s life, people-pleasing came so naturally to her that she didn’t even have a word for it. When somebody wanted something from her—even a stranger—she gave it, no matter how uncomfortable, exhausted, or resentful she felt inside. People-pleasing, she learned, was a coping mechanism that had kept her physically and emotionally safe in the past, but wreaked havoc on her life in the present—and she was committed to breaking the pattern once and for all.

Enchantment. By Dr. Sharon Blackie’s definition, a vivid sense of belongingness to a rich and many-layered world, a profound and whole-hearted participation in the adventure of life. Enchantment is a natural, spontaneous human tendency - one we possess as children, but lose, through social and cultural pressures, as we grow older. It is an attitude of mind which can be cultivated: the enchanted life is possible for anyone. It is intuitive, embraces wonder, and fully engages the mythic imagination - but it is also deeply embodied in ecology, grounded in place and community.

Story
Women Living Deliciously wants us to fall in love with our lives. It will help women uncover the sense of awe and wonder that has been buried by the layers of shame, perfectionism and self-objectification that get piled on us by the patriarchy. For too long we have internalized the belief that our bodies are things to be looked at—instead of lived in. That it’s embarrassing to fully express ourselves. That we cannot trust the parts of ourselves that are so full of desire.

Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things - and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

Hopeful again! finally, an approachable take on stress management!
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much I finish listening in just one day. I took several notes on different approaches to stress in my life and how it bleeds into my relationship. We all know we have stress, but we are rarely taught the skills to navigate stress and the mental load in our most important relationships. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels like they have too much on their plate and are struggling to communicate with their loved one. I am going to try to get my husband to read this as well.
