About this listen

Nick Gallows has one goal: prevent the Apocalypse. But time is running out faster than he can imagine, and the Forebears of Ingenga are closing in. To stand a chance, Nick must venture through the rift that unleashed unspeakable horrors upon his city. On the other side, he finds an arctic wasteland crawling with monsters and a fortress under siege—the stronghold of the elusive Black Witch that has haunted his dreams. Forced to fight through hundreds of thousands of savage creatures, Nick must decide if aiding the Witch is worth the risk. Will the knowledge she holds be his salvation or his undoing?

When time weighs heavily, it's time to hit the weights in this regression LitRPG/Gamelit story of dungeon-diving, leveling, stats, and facing down the apocalypse!

Not my favorite of the series.

I feel like this and the last book is full of bad choices, choices an adult that has lived through the apocalypse that had earlier said he was willing to do whatever it takes to save the world wouldn’t make. I guess you could make the argument that he’s being affected by spoilers, but the book went out of its way to say that wasn’t the case. There’s less than three days from the beginning of the book to the end. A good half of this book is detailed combat, of that, I didn’t find most of it overly interesting and ended up skipping massive portions of it. I hope the next book has more story and less filler.

First Uneven Book In Series

Loved world expansion and new aspects of the system. Felt rushed. Should have spent more time on the new base building concepts, but I figure that's coming next book.

An attempt to milk money from the fans

This book is was clearly not designed to advance the plot much. A whole lot of nonsensical combat happened. I kept listening to this filler book thinking, why is all this happening? When are we going to get back to the main plot points of the series? Combat just for combat sake, no real plot to drive the actions. For a guy with all that time and experience due to his regression, he does seem to act and make strange decisions. No sense of repercussions for his stupid decisions, never learns hard lessons, does not lose loved ones due to his bad decisions. No lessons learned. He meets a guy who he is clearly very suspicious of, but he does not really think or do much about it. I couldn't wait for this book to come to an end. I need my money back... this is a very bad sign, if this is going to become the new norm. Stretching the content and plot to milk the engagement & quantity of books to be sold. Too short, I feel robbed.

Why base building?

I was really enjoying this series until it turned into another base building litRPG.
Why the author felt the need to go this direction I have no idea. There’s already way too many base building litRPG books. It’s such a boring concept in a story. This entire book felt like filler until the last chapter. This whole plot is getting really stale. From the way the plot was set up in the first few books I thought that all of the story was going to take place on earth. I don’t think I’ll be continuing this story due to how the direction seems to have taken a complete 180 degree turn into a completely different genre. Maybe I’m wrong, still though why wait till book 6 to then suddenly introduce a complete change in setting and plot. It just feels like an overused mechanic in litRPG books to build a base and waste like 3 books doing it. Yeeeaah, I’m out.

painful to listen to

Nick spends the entire book listening to the voice in his head. It was extremely obvious she was manipulating him and Nick just goes with it. This book was a complete disappointment.

75% Combat, 20% nothing dialogue, 5% story moves

This was a nothing book, with the exception of the MC being a complete idiot, being so obviously manipulated that it completely breaks immersion for an extremely paranoid MC to not pick up on it. Prior to this book, I loved this series, but this book killed it.
