About this listen

In a false city built on lies, the factions prepare for war.

The orcs awaken primeval curses. The cultists collect on ancient debts. The goblins fuel their war rigs.

None of it will be enough for what’s coming.

After the Golden Door incident, Lucas and Hugo have never been in more danger. Their allies are gone, the gods want them dead, and their new patron who caused all of these problems is more of a hindrance than a benefactor.

But the Climb must continue.

The pair descend into the Strand, a gothic city on the brink of tearing itself apart. By day, its citizens worry about dodging goblin artillery or being extorted by orc gangsters. But by night, the spirits grow restless. Amongst the chaos, a rogue necromancer plots their revenge.

With little time left, Lucas and Hugo will have to fight every step of the way for answers.

But secrets get buried for a reason, and no one will be prepared for the consequences.

Dive into a LitRPG apocalypse story with classes, skills, monster waves, and a progression system full of secrets and possibilities. Perfect for fans of Rogue Ascension, Defiance of the Fall, and The Primal Hunter!

I like this series so much I watch every book all in a row throughout days

I really like this whole series. It was super interesting. I’m just annoyed that the character doesn’t properly learn how to fight like multiple times he got his magic taken away and got his ass kick and multiple times people are telling him to train and he kinda doesn’t or at least maybe I just missed it but it’s a good book and I like the main character which just annoys me although I get it maybe he’s more of a mage idk probably in the next book he’ll do more training

decent addition

wasn't as good as the first two, but I did appreciate the intro that was a good lead in to book three so I wouldn't have to go back and re-listen to the first two.

Narrator is great, Story is meh

As another pointed out. The anti-magic batteries make no sense. The author gives the MC tons of stats and tools and then does their best to nerf him through arbitrary means rather than either providing relevant foes or not handing out so many stats and tools. The MC is such a dumb ass. Over and over again make the obviously incorrect choice that would absolutely have gotten him, and others killed. But because he's the MC he gets out of it each and every time. On top of all of that, the MC is a gigantic pushover. Talks like he won't put up with something and then immediately rolls over, no push back, no screwing over the plans of those pushing him and other people/climbers around. Just letting it all happen. I can't tell if the author wants the MC to be this contradictory moron that thinks he's awesome and fails upward until the end, or if the author themselves can't rub two braincells together to think about this situation like anyone with a brain would.

On a final note, the narrator is great. His Hugo voice has consistently been my favorite in these books.

serious inconsistencies

despite crazy stats and ability MC is about as useless as they come. the anti magic batteries are such a dumb concept. they would not work in the tower because it's all magic there would be cascading system problems if they actually worked. it's a lame excuse for nerfing mc abilities and make him stumble around like a moron. one of my pet peeves is push over MC with no spine and arbitrary actions or nerfing MC. it slows everything down and makes every action or event a slog. you can skip whole chapters and not miss one actual development of MC skill growth, abilities growth and maturity growth. making normal cult people stronger than stacked stat tower climbers is hilarious, what's the point of levels or abilities gained through stats it's almost like it doesn't even matter all you need is a anti magic battery and you can kill a god no problem. Lol hopefully the author will get a grip and either quit or try harder because damn this book is awful
