About this listen

Jim and his shoulder demon have survived everything the world has thrown at them. So far.

However, there is an encroaching war between two great kingdoms. In between the two armies stands an ever-growing town, led by a Noob.

With goblins, trolls, angry Wargs, and an expanding refugee crisis, will Jim and his companions manage to restore Windfall Valley or have they finally met their match?

Yes! He speaks about his wife!

An earlier review whined about the main character talking a lot about his wife. Personally it showed a little more depth to a Litrpg character. No one in a situation like this who suddenly is ripped away from their family is not going to be going through inner turmoil about those they love. If that is all you can focus on maybe the reviewer needs to gain some more emotional depth themselves. This wasn’t as great a listen as the previous two books but I’ve still given it 5 stars as the story, humor and RPG elements are all there in spades. Good book, great voice acting and fun humor. Overall a great experience to listen to!

Mostly good

It would be great if you would stfu about your earth family. It wrecks the story.

another great addition

enjoyed it very much. the story is really finding it's stride and I like the characters a lot. it does get annoying hearing him bemoan his wife every chapter. but in the next book I'm on now it sorta isn't as bad so all good

Fun Books!

I definitely share the authors sense of humor and totally appreciate the more abbreviated level ups in this book. I do like to see character progression, so I would be ok with a bit more detail on stats, but having massive lists of numbers to increase your page count isn't really my jam, so I'm cool with the less detail we've been getting for level ups.

It's weird to me that several of the reviews mention having issues about Jim mentioning his wife and kids after only a month? I've been pleasantly surprised that he's NOT following the stereotypical formula of every female fawning all over him and him just boning his way through a series of lackluster no personality throwaway women. But I'm female, so maybe not the typical target audience for litrpg. Take that as you will.

I'd also like to mention the fact that everybody who has an issue with Jim not knowing what's going on with Bashara either doesn't play D&D or when they do, they seriously metagame. He's failing his checks, why would he know anything? It's a game mechanic, not because he's stupid.

Excellent listen

Love the blooper reel at the end! I feel every bit of Jim’s frustration at this odd world but keep coming back for more.

Enjoyable

Good continuation of the story. Included in the end credits is a brief bit of failed recording an shows the struggles of trying to narrate a book. I really enjoyed that inclusion.
