About this listen

Chaos to Calm is a guide for busy parents that will help them streamline the endless tasks they face every day. By creating more time and less stress, they can spend more hours appreciating their family, making sure they have what they need, and giving themselves the space they need to live their lives with intention and joy. Chapters are targeted at Efficiency, Habits, Communication, Community, and Self-Care, and include how-tos and simple small tasks anyone can take to lower the frenetic pace of every day and move forward with practical well-thought-out plans that prove everything can get done without losing your cool. Using examples from a variety of parents as well as her own life, author Jenna Hermans (businesswoman and mother of four!) shows us that calm can be achieved and maintained and that anyone can take control of their busy lives and embrace what really matters.

New tools and refreshing, supportive sentiments

I’ve read/listened to a fair amount of self-help over the years, so certain aspects I’d heard before (maybe only 20% of it), but even so, it’s always good hear the same principles again (as I’m not perfect and often slip/drop some important tools that I wish to maintain habitually).
But the other 80% was new concepts to me, and delivered with great examples/anecdotes to help bolster and cement the tool/strategy towards becoming a habit.
My favourite aspect overall: the refreshing, honest tone and reminding us we don’t have to go along with the status quo or what’s merely expected of us… sometimes we need to prioritise ‘self’ over everything else, so that subsequently we can be at our peak, allowing us to only then support those around us.
Great exercises and resources on their website too - that the book helps direct you to when applicable.
I’ll definitely be listening to again, possibly annually from now on.
