About this listen

The Darkling City has fallen, but its final Stronghold remains.

With the Reality Editor in hand, Jack thought the assault on Skalahólt would be a short victorious war, but his army has been stopped cold, and worse, someone close to him has been taken by the Overmind of Death. Every second counts if Jack wants her back alive, but to even have a chance, he'll have to leave his troops behind and dive into Thanatos's twisted game within a game.

Stranded behind enemy lines with only one shot at victory, Jack is faced with seemingly impossible challenges that will require him to think outside himself, to change, and even to lose. But as the puzzles take a new turn and the other Overminds finally reveal their hands, it soon becomes clear that more than just this battle or even the war is at stake. Eldgard's future is being written in Jack's every action and word, and the Travelers may not have a place in it . . .

I don't comment much on audiobooks, but I have to appreciate an original story and trilogy. You won't be disappointed.

An original story and trilogy.

The details and descriptions paint pictures that make the world both virtual and real come alive. The description on a wooden patio extending from a house on a sunny day with children playing and friends gathered together over clattering plates and syrup drenched breakfast transport the listener. The humor and jibes of Cutter and Amara... the relationships that are tenuous then tolerable and then friendly feel natural and almost like a slice of life... which is odd and wonderful as this is a story about people living in a virtual world. Well done. Strong finish.

Enjoyable Conclusion to Good Series

Or will it continue on? It's a good book but please stop listing so much 😅

Is this the end?

A nice and satisfying ending to this epic saga. Plenty of action along the way.

A fine ending

The litrpg genre seems to have trouble with endings. not so with this series. My only real complaint about the various litrpg series I've read or am reading, is that many seem to have no real arc, and seem content to go on and on without any thought of where or how to end the series. Some of my favorites seem to have been abandoned by their authors, or pushed to lower priority while they work on other projects.

I was immensely pleased that this was not the case for this series. While there is certainly room for more stories with these same characters, we get a true and solid ending to the overall story laid out over the past 7 books. The reading was as good as ever, and the pace of the story was great, it was a fitting end to a very good series.

a strong finish

I was waiting for a while to the final book. At lease it should be the final book. It was well written and narrated that i didn’t want it to end, but it needed to. Bitter sweet endings to a beautiful world of VGO.

A bitter sweet end

I loved this series, I must I purchased this many audiobooks. I really liked the story and the characters in the beginning, but as time went on I found myself tuning out more and more. Maybe it’s the “worn out recording of your favorite song” creeping in. But this would have been my last installment in this series even if it hadn’t ended. It had a good and balanced ending. Will recommend👍🏾.

I love this series, but
