Publisher's summary

One war has drawn to a close, but another has just begun.

It was supposed to be an easy victory lap in the capital city, but life around Thorn is never that simple. New responsibilities, underhanded nobles, a shadowy cult, and a struggle for the throne of Northern Angoril all promise to make life exciting...if he can survive.

Thorn falls deeper into the political struggles of the Empire when the capital is rocked by a terrible murder and is forced to learn that not all problems can be solved with the heavy end of his tetsubo. New allies and new enemies emerge as Thorn races to stop a catastrophe that will shake the entire world of Nova Terra.

The saga continues.

Excellent, but then again I knew it would be. Very enjoyable and difficult to turn off!

I'm on a listen binge Pt 7

tl;dr
Seth Ring nails another edition in the series.
Eric Jason Martin's performance continues to be way above par.
Well worth the credit.

Long Part: One star drop for overly-wordy and repetitive quest descriptions, titles, &c. It's like driving down a grade picking up speed then having to break right when the experience was getting edgy and slow down, to slowly pick up speed.

Darn near perfect.

The world is getting complicated and Thorn really plays the leader role well. Can't wait for the next book.

Finally! A good Nerf!!!!

Another fantastic book in this series!!!! The MC’s power creep was actually getting out of control and I’m happy they were finally able to get that under control. I’m all for an overpowered MC but my man was a S-tier Paladin, Rogue, Barbarian and Wizard all in one. This is one of the best in the series so far and the plot twist at the end! *chef’s kiss*

Narration as always is amazing! Saw someone comment about a lisp, I couldn’t tell!!!

Good, but stressful

Another fun continuation to the series. It's a bit stressful though, listening to the amount of stress that Thorn feels from having so much to do. I hope he manages to slim down that list soon, but I'm doubtful.

Slow start, exciting ending!

The first half covers Thorns introduction into the sleezy world of politics then takes a headfirst dive into non stop action that makes up for the slow start completely, leaving you ready to dive right into the next book for more!

Good continuation!

The story got a little wondering but overall kept with the tried and true method.
