About this listen

A friend lost. An empire rewriting the world. A monster rising in the night.

Digby Graves has returned to Las Vegas with a taste for revenge. After giving up his soul in exchange for the power to build an army, he and his crew of misfits begin to realize that he might have made a mistake. Who would have thought having a soul would be important, right?

With a looming war on the horizon, there's no time for Digby to dwell on what he’s lost. The Autem Empire has been preparing its conquest for decades and is already close to seizing control. With nothing but his honorary conscience to guide him, Digby must rally his forces and take the fight to his enemies before his own sanity becomes a forgotten memory.

Saving everyone means facing down his demons and confronting a harsh reality as the line between hero and villain begins to blur: in war, there are no winners.

I’m a bit unsure how to feel about this book’s storyline. There are twists in the story that I didn’t really care for but that’s solely my personal feelings. The book’s storyline has an objective, but I don’t feel like it was done by the end of this book. (Aka this stories arc). My dislike is at the lost of one of the MC’s or so the story makes you believe. I also don’t feel like the MC is growing much from book to book. Not level wise but more mentally and making decisions. Overall I don’t feel this book was as good as some of the others in this series. The series is still good and this book does add to the story, just not as much as the other books. In my opinion.

Twisting story plot

Underrated

Once again we have another unique story in a setting that is becoming a wild adventure and we finally got to do the monster mash.

Fun as alaways however this one was a bit more serious

It was a good ending to what I hope is just this arc of the story, but if it is the end then I see it as a happy one.

Loved it

OK, I had trouble reading listening to the book since I just did not like how the MC was going crazy. also, from reading other reviews, I thought one of the main characters was going to be killed off. In the end, no MC died, kinda wished I knew that to make listening to the book easier.

Spoiler Warning

Giving Dig the ability to create horrifically twisted mountains of flesh was the best idea since sliced bread. Then again I watch The Thing almost every weekend so I might be biased.

Leaning into the horror
