About this listen

Now a student at Wurthaven, Will is confronted with the truth of the present.

The powerful magic embodied by wizards like his grandfather is but a distant memory. Though the practice of the current day is timid and uninspired, Will needs the knowledge that’s preserved and managed by the college. At every turn he finds that sorcery is supreme, while wizards are trained merely to assist and support those who hold the real power - a power based on an evil so deep that few who are living know the truth of its foundation.

As a student of wizardry, he’s expected to know his place and stay in it, but Will isn’t like the other students. His grandfather’s teaching has made him into something different, something forgotten - something they will learn to fear.

If he can grow into his power, with every choice, every refusal to submit, Will creates more enemies, enemies who aren’t content to let him live in peace. Without friends or support, Will must survive the knives in the dark, for Cerria is no place for those who refuse to follow the rules.

Awesome addition to this great series!

I like the flow of these stories. The characters don't accomplish ridiculous feats for no reason, learning as they go. A great example being the cleaning spell that she created and how he has begun to understand how hard that was to create. There are zero harems and the character grows strong as his training progresses. He is not held up as a genius to simply make dumb mistakes. True he is a prodigy but his understanding changes so much throughout the first two books. Unnatural growth and cringey harems are my two major pet peeves with the LitRPG genre. Neither are present in this series so far. This has a great spell structure and solid plot twists that accompany you along your listening journey.

Wonderful story. I enjoyed this immensely. Also thank you for getting Tim Gerard as your narrator. That guy is the best.

This was so much better than book 1!

I feel like M.G.M. definitely took the time to make books 2 & 3 a whole lot better. I'm sad to say that once that Old Coot of a Grandfather Character of his was gone, things sound and started looking brighter for the main character.

Most of us just really don't like listening to bitter old guys bitch, complain & displace their anger on an innocent young boy. We see & hear enough of that crap in real life.

👍🏻Great Job Michael G. Manning 👏🏼

Great performance

This book is everything that I personally look for in an audiobook. The writing is good, the acting is good, the story is good. The story brings all the elements of romance, adventure, action, and even intellect seamlessly together. Enjoy!

Why did it have to end so quickly 😢

Why did it have to end so quickly 😢 Love this series! Even if each book was 100 hours, it wouldn't be enough!

Actively search for books narrated by Tim. Great premise and interesting story line. Tim's portrayal of emotion is beyond palpable. Love it
