About this listen
Get unstuck from the patriarchal dark ages and find love once and for all with this feminist guide to navigating the perils and pitfalls of modern dating.
It’s not your fault that dating sucks, that the patriarchy has screwed up how we find love. From addictive dating apps that were built like slot machines to advice like “Stop being so picky!” (aka “don’t trust yourself”), to single women being treated as less than because of their relationship status, dating can be a hot soup of existential exhaustion.
In Thank You, More Please, dating coach and founder of Date Brazen, Lily Womble, flips patriarchal dating on its head and challenges you to ask for and get what you want. Lily, who has set up nearly 400 dates, was one of the top matchmakers in the U.S, but in her personal life she was constantly settling for toxic situationships.
After growing up in the deep south, a late bloomer who hadn’t had a long-term relationship, she’d been labeled “too much,” and her deepest fear was that she wasn’t qualified for the love and partnership she craved. She needed to learn how not to settle and to attract love on her terms. The steps in this book are exactly the steps Lily took to create a confident and joyful-as-f--k dating life that attracted the love of her life. Then, she broke up with matchmaking to become a feminist dating coach and help hundreds of women do the same.
This proven feminist framework will help you create an epic love life, one that attracts more than you thought possible (more, please!). She includes tips on how to:
- ditch the self-blamey, rigid dating advice and start trusting your gut,
- embrace and celebrate your singleness,
- own all your relationship preferences and be powerfully picky,
- date like a feminist and attract the partnership you crave,
- And more!
A hilarious, feminist, no BS guide with a joyful, unconventional formula, Thank You, More Please will show you how to ask for exactly what you want and find love exactly as you are.

Story
What if every time you had a self-critical thought, you heard it in a man’s voice? The truth is not far off. Living in a patriarchy, women absorb a lifetime of messages that say your worth is defined by your looks, your accomplishments, and how well you take care of everyone around you. In fact, these messages are so pervasive that, even knowing they exist, they still manage to program themselves into our brains. The result is that women end up feeling anxious, guilty, and vaguely ashamed of themselves no matter how much they do for others or achieve for themselves.

In this inspiring self-help handbook, a trans activist dares us to be the change we want to see—both out in the world, and amongst our closest connections. Lifelong activist and educator Dean Spade dares us to decide that our interpersonal actions are not separate from our politics of liberation and resistance. Many activist projects and resistance groups fall apart because people treat each other poorly, trying desperately to live out the cultural myths about dating and relationships that we are fed from an early age.

We congratulate ourselves when we resist the donut in the office breakroom. We celebrate our restraint when we hold back from sending an email in anger. We feel virtuous when we wake up at dawn to get a jump on the day. We put others’ needs ahead of our own and believe this makes us exemplary. In On Our Best Behavior, journalist Elise Loehnen explains that these impulses—often lauded as unselfish, distinctly feminine instincts—are actually ingrained in us by a culture that reaps the benefits, via an extraordinarily effective collection of mores known as the Seven Deadly Sins.

Story
Christian college Professor Demitria Costanas had vowed to end her affair with a colleague. But she gives into temptation one last time...and a lurking photographer captures her weakness for all to see. Quite literally, she's the woman caught in adultery. And almost everyone - herself included - has a stone to throw. Enter Sullivan Crisp, a decidedly unorthodox psychologist with his own baggage. He's well-known for his quirky sense of humor and incorporation of "game show" theology into his counseling sessions. And yet there's something more he offers...hope for a fresh start.

Story
From the time we’re born, a litany of do’s and don’ts are placed on us by our families, our communities, and society. We're required to fit into boxes based on our race, gender, sexuality, and other parts of our identities, being told by others how we should behave, who we should date, or what we should be interested in. For so many of us, those boxes begin to feel like shackles when we realize they don’t fit our unique shape, yet we keep trying because we crave acceptance and validation. But is “fitting in” worth the time, energy, and suffering?

What a refreshing book
I truly enjoyed listening to this book. I even bought a physical copy. Lily has a way of communicating the simple things, while breaking them down. As a person who likes to know "how" and "why" of things, Lily, shares her examples with lived experiences. Truly appreciate this book so much. I've gained an understanding of what things I want to look at for myself and what values I would love my person to have when I meet them.

Positive! Fun! Inspiring!
Lily Womble has inspired this chronically single person back out there, years after giving up on finding The One. The advice was practical, delivered with light-hearted positivity, and encouraging! Love the feminist framework and acknowledgment into how deeply we’ve been socialized to believe certain things.
