The New York Times bestselling author of The Lazy Genius Way brings her signature Kind Big Sister Energy to a practical time management book for people weary of productivity but eager to live a good life.

If productivity systems tend to let you down, listening to The PLAN will be such a relief.

Most time-management books leave you feeling inadequate, focusing on greatness and optimization. But what if you want to simply live your life without chasing productivity at every turn? Is there a way to manage your time without being at its mercy?

Absolutely, and The PLAN will show you how.

In her signature “Kind Big Sister” style, Kendra Adachi offers a fresh take on managing your time. Using the memorable acronym PLAN, you will learn to prepare, live, adjust, and notice like a Lazy Genius, all through the lens of what matters to you in your current season. With The PLAN, you’ll

Dear Listener,

Who did I write The PLAN for?
"I wrote The PLAN for folks who wish there was more compassion woven into their time management. The vast majority of books in this genre teach the pursuit of greatness, hustle, and mastery as the only recipe for a good life, but I find this message to be incomplete. What about today? What about contentment? What if I would like to live well where I am in my current season of life, and not always pursue an ideal, invisible future? I wrote this audiobook because the productivity machine is not the only option, and that is such a relief. Compassionate time management changes everything, and The PLAN is where it starts. "– Kendra Adachi, writer of The PLAN

Most political of Kendra’s content

I love Kendra Adachi. I love everything Lazy Genius, and I found this book helpful. I found myself skipping chunks where we got heavy into patriarchy and institutionalized oppression or some version of that. There’s definitely bits of those topics that are relevant and worth considering, but I’m sick to death of hearing those terms. I think those topics are deep and complicated, and rather than making it feel motivating and helpful in a book about planning, they felt like a weight dragging me down.

Love having language for all these approaches to time management. It helps me understand myself and others as well as giving me the encouragement and compassion I need to keep going.

I'm a sit and finish this but I did end up finishing it well I understand her viewpoint and where she's coming from with this I do wish she had not forgotten the other 35% of us that is not only male and cyst but also do not have the privileges to just leave it to the lazy genius wife

Ok but for beginners

A large portion of this book covers how white male patriarchy is to blame for a woman’s poor planning skills, and our lack of access to a females perspective on it. Which…ok, this could make sense. I’m listening, But then it never ended up giving anything different than what those very same male-written books do. Only the metaphors are female oriented. I really expected a new light to be shed on it, from this perspective she was valiantly offering. So, overall it was underwhelming for me. For beginners. It’s a helpful read, and the voiceover was done very well, which was nice.

Every chapter- wisdom overload

Grab a notebook and sit with this book. I was hesitant to buy my first Kendra Adachi book. Yes, I’ve listened to her podcast and ordered her books from the library. A part of me has rebelled as I assume she has the picture-perfect life and could only teach someone like me so much…. All I can say is… read every chapter even if it doesn’t seem to pertain to your situation. I was writing down suggestions at every page.

Essay stretched to book length

Author has some good points, but it felt longer than necessary. Would appreciate a collection of essays instead.

Agree with the author that women trying to be just like men is a recipe for burnout, but instead of blaming the men, why not focus on women’s responsibility (and what we can do to change it)? Love that this book takes a women’s perspective on time management, but men aren’t the ones asking us to be everything they are—that comes from other women.

Looking at Time Management through the lens of being a woman = BRILLIANCE!!

Kendra has literally opened my eyes to looking at time management with such grace and from the “new” perspective of being a woman and I am SO grateful. I no longer have to feel guilty on the days I just can’t “get ‘er done”. I can simply be compassionate towards myself, my situation, my humans, and move forward “accessing kindness” to the best of my ability and trusting that there is goodness present. Thank you Kendra, this was brilliant!
