About this listen

Everyone will hear you scream. No one will listen.

Norah can't stop thinking about the night her brother died.

She was supposed to stay with him at the Halloween carnival. He'd begged her to stay. But they'd fought, and Norah left him alone in the woods. That was before she realized there was a real killer lurking among the costumes and macabre props.

When the carnival reopens just weeks later amid a media controversy, Norah decides to retrace her brother's last steps in a desperate attempt to unravel what really happened that night. But the woods hold more than just traumatic memories. Before long, Norah begins to suspect that the killer's choice of hunting ground was no coincidence. And that this nightmare is far from over.

Critic reviews

"Loved it...not just as a serial-killer thriller, but as a look into our own psyche." (Jacqui Corn-Uys, Reedsy)

"Noelle’s writing is clean, crisp and descriptive.... I could feel the corn of the maze rubbing against my legs." (Janine Pipe, Cemetery Dance Magazine)

"One of my top choices for horror novel of 2021." (Anthony Avina, author of Identity)

The Thicket did not disappoint!

I’m ready for the sequel! I can not say how excited I am to have found Noelle Ihli. I just finished Ask For Andrea and this was my second foray into Ihli’s world. While it was somewhat predictable at times the different characters and perspectives they had made this book one I was not able to put down. No spoilers but I will definitely think twice about visiting a scary amusement park. Our narrator fell flat at times but was not annoying to listen to. I’m dying to read Run on Red but the sample immediately did not sit well in my ears. Kindle, here I come!

Good story but the narrator was terrible

The story is very good it was the horrible narration that almost made me quit. I have enjoyed all of the other books by this author so I stuck it out and I’m glad I did.

Great story!

I wasn’t a fan of the narrator. The pauses in the sentences were distracting. BUT the story was amazing.

A plot twist for the ages!

Absolutely loved! This needs to be a movie and soon. Took me 2 days to complete and I am 100% in love with the writing style. Safe to say the author gained a new fan!

Dare to Enter

I loved it!! There were certain parts of the story where I found myself holding my breath. One of the best horror stories I've heard/read in awhile. I seriously hope there is a sequel --- and to be totally honest, I'd love to see this made into a movie. The narration seemed flat and robotic at times, but ultimately it did not take away from the story.

Loved this one!

Reading the title details hooked me. Anything murdery mixed with a carnival type stetting is my kind of book. This is the second book by this author that kept me on the edge of my seat. You want to yell at the girls in the story to leave but teenagers seem to think they are invincible and feel nothing bad will happen to them. I really recommend this listen, so worth the credit!

Great story! Slightly predictable ending

The story is really well written. Good characters. Ending is slightly predictable, but over all a great book.

Least favorite

This is the 4th book I've read by this author and my least favorite. The suspense is towards the end but just leaves the reader empty as to motive. It reads like a teenage horror movie which is unlike her other books.
