Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

Story
The ADHD brain comes with some unique challenges, and until we recognize what they are, they will keep getting in our way. Starting new things, stopping others, concentrating, studying, getting stuff done, paying the bills, and getting on with life just seems so much harder for you than for others. That’s because it actually is, and it is time we faced up to this. ADHD brains are not wrong, weak, or broken–just different. And because the world is set up for neurotypical people, those with ADHD struggle to fit in with these systems which are not matched to them or their needs at all.

Although clinical research has been conducted on narcissism as a disorder, less is known about its effects on victims who are in toxic relationships with partners with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Individuals with this disorder engage in chronic devaluation and manipulation of their partners, a psychological and emotional phenomenon known as "narcissistic abuse". Unfortunately, the full extent of what narcissistic abuse entails is not taught in any psychology class or diagnostic manual.

Really Helpful and Useful Tips!!!
This audiobook was great to listen to while at home or driving throughout the day. Tips and suggestions were helpful and appreciated. Audiobook is a fantastic tool for those who are on the go and especially for individuals who have trouble staying on task. Personally, I enjoyed reading the book more because it felt more intimate and did not translate the same to me on the audiobook. Though, I would still highly recommend the audiobook for adults who wants tips and advice on how to work on time management. :)

Useful, but nothing new
When listening to/reading self-help books, I always find myself wondering if the author has asked themselves what I would: "Am I writing something that is different than anything else out there? If not, am I writing it in a more accessible manner?"
For the majority of books I come across, the answers I would give are no and no. This book is no different.
If you have not read material on ADHD before and you are searching for answers, sure, go ahead and read this one. It will probably help! If you have already done a bunch of research and have read other books, there is no point in reading this one.
The intro was repetitive, but luckily it mostly snaps out of that for the body of the text. Repetitiveness is a thing for self-help.
The narrator was very good for the most part, but there are specific words that they do not pronounce correctly that are said over and over again and make for a very distracting listen for a person with ADHD.

I’m an adult without ADHD and I still found this book incredibly helpful!
The writing is carefully selected by design so that everyone can understand Jen’s concepts. The narration was also clear and easy to listen to. I had listened to the audiobook while at work, and although I was multitasking, I still had some great takeaways to improve my time management. Whenever I feel like I need to bring myself back to better managing my time and achieving my goals, this book is what I turn to.
