About this listen

Not even gods are safe from the power of the fabled Doom-Forged weapon. Grim Jack didn’t set out to be the leader of Eldgard’s united armies, but with dungeons falling one by one and hordes of Vogthar pouring into the material plane, it’s up to him to save both citizens and travelers from digital destruction.

His doomsday weapon will take him straight into the heart of Morsheim, but once there, even the combined might of the Empire and the Crimson Alliance might not be enough. He’ll have to uncover secrets buried for millennia just to get within striking distance of a death god gone mad, and the choices he’ll make will change him and the world forever...

From James A. Hunter, the best selling author of the Yancy Lazarus Series, Rogue Dungeon, and Bibliomancer (The Completionist Chronicles Expanded Universe) comes the seventh installment in the LitRPG epic Viridian Gate Online! Jack's adventures in a cutthroat virtual reality fantasy world will grip fans of Ready Player One and The Stormlight Archive alike. With over 250,000 copies sold, this is one series you don't want to miss.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

RPG Story Book Action & Anticipation

This seemingly never ending story will give you days of listening enjoyment. Jack and his friends are always up against infernal odds and so far the author has successfully maintained the balance of powers.

mostly enjoyed it.

overall it was a good story.
author has some strange attachment to certain words that you start to see a drastic overuse ie incredulous and beeline. in fact no character in the series walks anywhere or simply approaches. nope. they beeline towards everything. there is a love story component mixed in as well but it's barely touched on and you'll find yourself just not caring.
otherwise, it's a good listen while you work book.

Awesome!!!!

I really thought I would hate it based on the preview/concept, but I was so wrong!!!! They got me sucked in with three free ones and then I had to keep listening. Thank God the next one is coming out soon because it was like hitting a wall when I finished the 7th book and “reached for the next” only to find out it wasn’t out yet!!! 😱😁. Some reviews of it are pretty harsh but the only issues I has was some details are repeated again and again in each book… but I remind myself most people need refreshers as new books come out because time has passed since the last one would have been read/listened to. Also, without giving anything away… the mc missed an obvious solution then five minutes later uses that obvious solution to fix a different problem.

Still a good book

This is my least favorite of the series, and the most important part is the ending and I just didn’t like the ending. I will not be reading the next book at least not right away.

Great mental get away

Hear me out.
You might see a lot of troupes in this series ( did you really give him a skyrim shout... come on)
And some characters seem either flat or unreliable.
But if you want an audio escape to another world, if you need to get away from work, or school.
Jump in, you'll have a whole new world waiting to save.

I wish the volume was more consistent

I don't like having to turn the volume down everything the narrators goes into announcer voice to say stats and announce messages and quest prompts, then when he goes back to regular dialog and narration I have to turn the volume up to hear it. very annoying. keep it all the same volume, I'm driving and can't be dealing with this.
Good book otherwise! I'm glad we finally get NON-battle scenes in between fights. His earlier books in this series were battle after battle, and the characters had no life otherwise, no romance scenes, or tender moments with friends, or heartfelt scenes remembering their families, etc. This book and the last one were better in that regard. Launching into the next book now...!
