Understanding how we are wired can enrich our lives and our relationships, helping to overcome differences that can seem irreconcilable. Instead of terminating jobs, friendships, or marriage on grounds of incompatibility, it is possible to turn these relationships from dying to growing.

For more than 25 years, Marita Littauer, with her mother, Florence Littauer, has helped thousands of men and women with their personal and professional relationships. In Wired That Way, Marita brings together a comprehensive overview of the personality types that speaks to anyone who wants to understand and to be understood.

The different personality traits.

It was hard for me to wrap my head around what appeared to be her narcissism.

This Explains Everything!!!

This book explains why I am the way I am, and why I relate to others the way I do. It then does the same for every body else based on the different personalities. Most helpful of all is the instructions for how to improve relationships with others in marriage, family, work and spiritual life. Learn to be the best you, while having the most effective relationship with the people around you.

A Social Bible

Useful for the work environment, family interaction, or maintaining healthy friendships. The author has a religious filter on her views, so secular readers be aware, but the wisdom in this volume comes through regardless.

VALUABLE INFORMATION

There are so many personal examples of how these traits are manifested, which help the reader to know how to deal with others with personalities we may not have previously understood.

Performance by reader Janet Metzger is terrible!

The reader Janet Metzger is atrocious. Her voice is constantly annoyingly happy. She never changes it and it distracts from the text.

Good information. Good insights.

Book tries to fit all parts of life into personality types. However, I did learn a lot and agree on many points.

Mind blowing!

This book is incredible! I've lived feeling like a failure despite my best efforts and clearly listening to the wrong people. So many things make so much sense now. I'm clearly a strong coloric and have many strengths. I learned so much about how to relate to other types, why I was labeled, needs of both myself and others and so many other incredible things. So excited to put this into practice!!!

Insightful but Falls Short at the End

Wired That Way is an insightful and easy-to-digest guide to understanding personality types and how they interact. The book presents information in a clear and structured way, making it accessible for both beginners and those already familiar with personality assessments. Compared to other books on personality awareness, Wired That Way offers some unique perspectives on how different types relate to each other, which kept it engaging and fresh.

The narration in the audiobook version is decent—not exceptional, but serviceable. It doesn’t detract from the material, but it also doesn’t enhance it in any significant way.

One drawback for me was the final chapter, which delves into personalities and religion. While I understand the author’s intent, I felt that this section was unnecessary and took away from the otherwise universal appeal of the book. I could have done without it.

Overall, Wired That Way is a valuable resource for anyone interested in personal growth and improving relationships. If you’re looking for a straightforward and practical guide to personality types, this book is well worth your time—just be prepared for the religious angle toward the end.

Helpful Knowledge

This book helped me identify my own personality and the personalities of my husband, children and extended family. With this knowledge, I hope and plan to grow as a person and better communicate with my family and friends. I loved the scripture references and chapter 10 explaining spiritual gifts.
This book helped me see my strengths and weaknesses so that I could start living in my strengths. I did learn due to my parents personalities I have many “learned” strengths and weaknesses that are outside of my personality.
