About this listen

Build. Evolve. Conquer. Welcome to the civil war....

Roark von Graf - former noble and hedge mage, current mid-level mob in a MMORPG - has his sights set on taking down the tyrannical dungeon lord. But the reigning troll despot is nearly as devious as Roark, and his followers are at a much higher level.

With forever-death on the line, civil war breaks out in the Citadel, pitting Roark’s new regime against Azibek’s horde of loyalists. To survive, Roark will have to outfox the dungeon lord, forge new, dirtier weapons and shady alliances, and above all, evolve....

But while the trolls are entrenched in their civil war, an outside threat is growing. Eyes from the IRL world are beginning to turn toward the Citadel. There’s something strange about this Roark, and they intend to find out what.

From James A. Hunter, author of the litRPG epic Viridian Gate Online, and eden Hudson, author of the Legend of the Treesinger and the Jubal Van Zandt series, comes an exciting new litRPG dungeon-core adventure you won’t want to pause!

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Great job on this one

If you enjoy this genre, then this will be one of your new favorite titles. Exactly the story you want in a well executed gaming experience but from a different perspective. Nick Podehl is amazing, as always.

Overall good book, but I don’t like the hero of the story

The book is written well and the characters overall are very good. Amazing narration by nick as always. It’s just, this is one of the few times that I am rooting for the main guy to lose. He’s a prick. He somehow always wins and he’s cocky about it. He is not likable and I just can’t bring myself to get the third book.

All in.

The original story took me into a place the was not really my cup of tea, but by the end of the first book, I was hooked. Now I just want more! The performance is just superb!

Great, but short

The first two books could have easily been one, and that’s my only reason for giving the story 4 stars.

Very enjoyable

I truly enjoy a book I don't want to put down and this was one of them. I'm excited to see what book three is going to hold and how the characters react now that... You'll get no spoilers from me. Enjoy the listen.

Beautifully written and narrated

I love this book. James Hunter & Eden Hudson are magnificent writers that can drop you in to a new world. Its a great story that pulls you in. it is narrated wonderfully. Nick Podehl is an amazing narrator he dose a beautiful job connecting you with the characters. iv read most of the LitRPG series and they never fail to amaze. The Rogue Dungeon is quickly becoming one of my favorites. If you liked this series i have to recommend the Chaos Seed also a LitRPG series written by Aleron Kong.

LONG LIVE THE MIST VILLAGE.

Great Second Act

This second book was actually somewhat more entertaining than the first. I really liked some of the characters (Kaz was hilarious). Nick Podehl makes any fantasy novel seem more engaging. The story moved along with many unanticipated changes (even though the outcome was a bit obvious). This definitely made me want to read book 3.

Another banger

The story starts fresh out the gate from the first book. The characters grow stronger and some failures happen throughout to keep the pace of the leveling up from being forced.

There were times where I felt emotional, and cheerful. Kaz is my favorite, and I felt for him at times. Also I'm extremely happy to see his character development steadily flourish.

Also, I want to applaud Roark. Read and you'll find out what I mean. Genius!

Now on to book #3.
