I've been using YouTube and podcasts for sleep & anxiety relief meditation. I wanted something downloaded to my phone so I didn't have to worry about bad service on the road.

This has six or seven meditations in it for focus, sleep, anxiety, procrastinating. I have mainly used the sleep and anxiety one for the past ten days.

I am a casual/novice meditator, but have used breathing exercises and visualization kind of naturally for anxiety. My insomnia is something else. I go 72 hours without sleep sometimes and even Ambien doesn't work on it.

While these sleep meditations don't always help me sleep, they help the anxiety and overwhelmed feeling of "I'll never sleep again" so I am still awake, but in a better frame of mind.

The narrator is a female sounding voice. It is above a whisper, but very quiet, like you might speak in a hospital room or church. The voice had good pacing. The meditations themselves leave a lot of room for quiet and stillness.

The anxiety meditation is very good. Warning: It has you purposefully experience your anxiety and then walks you through the emotion. It teaches you to practice experiencing strong feelings without being crushed by them. It is April 21 2025 and I live in the US - so the political situation is constant and anxiety-provoking. It is impossible to avoid it in daily life. This anxiety practice is helping me learn to self-regulate and be able to read news for information without losing my grip for the rest of the day.

I highly recommend this. As a novice who really doesn't know anything about meditation, I find it helpful. If it is a placebo effect, I'm fine with that because it is helping me cope with daily life and sleeplessness, which is all I wanted it to do.

so this book WAS doing the trick and I was relaxed and then the volume jumped up to blasting! I tolerated the 1st jump scare, but then it happened 2 more times! Last night I tried it again on a different device and it happened AGAIN! Forget it. I want to return this and get my credit back.

the voice was rigid and not soothing. the guided meditation was good, but the voice made it bad. chapter 6 voice was loud. maybe good for awake meditation not for sleep meditation. also, the background music for chapter 6 was not soothing
changing the narration speed to .9 made it better.
