About this listen

This powerful self-help audiobook will change the way you see your past and transform the way you live now.

Do you struggle to find happiness in yourself or in your relationships? Do you have issues with your physical or mental health such as fatigue, anxiety, sleep problems, addictions or depression? Do you feel emotionally numb, or are you unable to truly feel your emotions? You are not alone. And maybe you need to stop blaming yourself.

We are all affected by our early experiences both good and bad. But for many of us, the patterns of our younger years have damaged us as adults, leaving us unable to truly feel or form lasting positive relationships with ourselves and others.

As children, we're dependent on those around us to meet our emotional needs for us the need for boundaries, safety and love. When these key needs go unanswered, the template for good mental health in adulthood is not properly formed. As adults, we can learn to meet these needs for ourselves, and to break free from a life of unnecessary suffering. Doing so doesn't just heal the impact of our past, it also helps us unlock our true potential in life.

Childhood trauma will continue to trap us throughout our lives if we don't seek to confront it. Drawing on his own healing from childhood trauma and his clinical work with thousands of patients, Alex Howard sets a clear path to understanding your own unique blueprint from childhood and then provides a clinically proven reset plan for healing.

It's Not Your Fault will help you to understand your trauma and heal its impact, build better boundaries and connect to your emotions to create healthy and fulfilling relationships.

Guidance & practical strategy for tough questions

Excellent resource and comprehensive strategies for anyone struggling with their childhood traumas, whether your just trying to figure out what happened and when, or you are already aware of your history and are working through it. I have followed a few of Alex Howards' seminars and have done his Reset program, of which the principles in this book are primarily based. This book serves as a valuable introduction and overview to that program, as well as an excellent companion resource for going through the more in-depth Reset program itself. To really be successful you must revisit the materials several times and really do the work as Alex advises, so the more tools and resources you can have the better off you will be...this healing is a journey that continues onward, its not just a weekend retreat.

Thank you again, Alex!

I found this to be another spectacular work by Alex Howard! He is, as always, clear, direct, insightful, understandable, & empathetic. His willingness to share pertinent & private personal examples from his own life makes the book even more readable & relatable. And once again, Alex has delivered well beyond expectations in adding another free “companion course” for readers of this book. I am very grateful for Alex & his work.

The only reason I gave the “performance” rating a 4 rather than a 5 is that on numerous occasions Alex dropped his voice volume substantially at the end of a sentence, I didn’t want to miss a thing, so ended up rewinding each time & increasing my listening volume to hear his words, then having to readjust the volume downward again. This is a very minor flaw in an otherwise perfect delivery & something I did not notice in his last book. If we’re fortunate enough to receive more work from this wonderful therapist in the future, I hope he’ll keep this helpful hint in mind! The content itself is impeccable!

Definitely worth the read!

This book offers compassionate and wise insights about the human condition of childhood pain. I love his philosophy of healing by increasing awareness of our feelings. Alex is very knowledgeable and has some wonderful suggested practices. I beliece he's missing a key component of healing which is to get consistent loving support from someone who's not also our partner to give us the unconditional love we didn't get during the trauma and likely never got in our childhood.
If you're looking for spiritual insights and Truth, this book won't help much.
I enjoyed hearing the author read. Many times he spoke a word or phrase so softly I couldn't understand him.

Superb!!!! And Thank you !

I just finished Alex Howard’s book “It’s Not Your Fault” and for anyone who has experienced childhood trauma… this book will help you. Alex has a wonderful voice to listen to and the information he conveys is so heart felt. Along with his series “Decode Your Trauma” and his 12 week “RESET” program after 18 months in my own healing journey I’m confident I’m learning the tools to finally address my nervous system and no longer live in a maladaptive state. Thank you Alex… I’m so grateful for your insights and desire to help us !!!
