Publisher's summary

With his wedding behind him, Fred is looking forward to nightly life finally settling down. Unfortunately, someone from his past has other, far less peaceful, plans in mind.

Finding his clan under attack, Fred must scramble to discover who is working against him and how to fight back. Between securing shelter, trading favors, and keeping up with his accounting business, it won't be easy to stay out of trouble, let alone uncover the identity of his adversary.

Faced with an enemy who has no interest in diplomacy, Fred and his friends will have to make hard choices if they want to survive. Choices that could forever change The House of Fred.

The Best in Understated Spooks & Stuff

I like the way the book is written, like it’s a bunch of short stories that contribute to the whole.
What makes this main character different, is that he is unassuming & understated, but totally trustworthy and competent.
Most “heroes” are bigger, stronger, independent, extremely good looking… he is none of these. Dang, I love these stories

Got my Fred-fix!

The soothingly humble story of one of the gentlest characters in literary history is still ongoing.

Kirby Heybornes narration of Fred is excellent as always, providing the fundation with a soft and kind voice thru out the story.

Unusually fastpaced start, and intense towards the finale with a heart warming ending, but the pattern of short stories building the novel is still here.

Now we have to wait for the next installment in the House of Fred. :*(

Another Awesome Fred Book

I love this series and Drew Hayes did not disappoint with book #7. I’m not sure how each new book stays so entertaining but there’s always a new twist, new characters, and I love how Fred grows but still stays the same utterly uninteresting vampire accountant.
In this book, Fred and his friends lose their home. The trip to a new domicile proves far more complicated and treacherous than one would imagine. A great ride the whole way through as we reconnect with old friends, sneaky enemies and the ever-present Blood Council.

The Continued Growth of Fred and the House

For a being so hum-drum, Fred sure is compelling. I listened to the book in a day because I couldn't stop it. Book 7 is the natural continuation of the previous 6 books with interesting spin.
As I have stated in previous reviews of Drew Hayes's books, he excels in character development. 7 books in and we are learning more about our favorite characters, making them deeper and full. While many questions have been tied up, there are so many more questions that have popped up. As always, Kirby Heyborne is the perfect narrator for Fred and company. I especially appreciated his gremlin voice. Just fun all around.
As I approached the end of this book, part of me was thinking that Hayes was wrapping up so many questions that this may be an ending point of the series. Then he opens up an whole new line that must be followed. I'm so happy to have visited with my good friends again and look forward to hanging out with them for a while more. Thanks Drew!
