About this listen
What happens when your partner, your primary person, in an instant, becomes a source of danger and pain?
The Betrayal Bind introduces new language, concepts, and imagery to explore the crucial relational dilemma that betrayed partners face when their significant other is unsafe to connect to, yet connection is the key to healing.
Discovering a partner's sexual betrayal spins your world out of control. In a split second, your sense of safety is shattered, your trust is gone, and everything you thought you could count on is in question.
Betrayed partners, whether dealing with an isolated infidelity or a pattern of sexual compulsivity, need immediate support to navigate the new terrain of their relationship. They need a clear articulation of betrayal trauma, a thorough education about their normal attachment-based reactions, and a proven path to healing.
By focusing on how a partner's attachment system functions in the wake of sexual betrayal, The Betrayal Bind offers a new, game-changing exploration into an age-old problem and connects the dots from research to the lived experience of betrayed partners.

An affair: It can rob a couple of their relationship, their happiness, their very identity. And yet this extremely common human experience is so poorly understood. Adultery has existed since marriage was invented, and so, too, the prohibition against it - in fact it has a tenacity that marriage can only envy. Iconic couples' therapist and best-selling author of Mating in Captivity Esther Perel returns with a groundbreaking and provocative look at infidelity, arguing for a more nuanced and less judgmental conversation about our transgressions.

To grow in recovery, we must grow up emotionally. This means getting honest with ourselves and facing up to the self-defeating thoughts and actions that put our sobriety at risk. Although there are as many ways to mess up recovery as there are alcoholics and addicts, some general themes exist, which include: confusing self-concern with selfishness; not making amends; using the program to try to become perfect; not getting help for relationship troubles; and believing that life should be easy. Allen Berger explores the 12 most commonly confronted beliefs and attitudes that can sabotage recovery.

Solid advice. Need professional voice
The advice and deep dive into betrayal from a betrayed focus. The voice of the author is soooo distracting because of how robotic, amateurish and unpleasant it is. Her over enunciation is distracting. It’s such good information, I hope Michelle Mays considers hiring a professional voice talent.

Best book on betrayal trauma
I have been dealing with betrayal trauma for over 20 years and have read many books on the subject. Most approach the subject with a co- dependant model which I have not found helpful. Most of the "self-help" books I've wanted to throw across the room (and have.) Michelle Mays "gets it." If you have not been helped with other books on the subject, give this one a try. The author provides a very realistic perspective.
