Publisher's summary

Sam survived the end of the world.

He fought demons and forged a unique legend that he has only begun to tap into the potential of. With his talking cat and a mysterious sage, Sam ventured to a multiverse shattered into floating islands, and then claimed one for his own.

Now, his growing camp of survivors from two worlds is beset by danger from all sides. At least fighting these roaming monsters from the broken sky doubles as training for his newly awakened War Incarnate bloodline and Void magic.

Sam is willing to risk it all to create a haven for them, but he must unlock a powerful crafting profession to have any chance of creating a flying Skyshard stronghold.

Blending slice-of-life with epic fantasy action, cultivation, mystery, layer/tower climbing, dungeon delving, kingdom building, and intricate magic systems, this LitRPG/GameLit series is a perfect fit for listeners who enjoy exploring richly detailed worlds, complex characters, and an ever-evolving struggle for the protagonists to make a home in their new world.

It was ok

The book was good and could be awesome if the author would lay off the stats and build inflection. It detracts from the story too much. By the end of the book you’re left feeling like the book went nowhere, it’s very disappointing. I don’t mind stats but it carries on a little too much.

Decent but ended with a cliffhanger

End on a cliffhanger, lose 2 stars.

Otherwise a decent continuation but a bit of a downgrade from the first. Good power progress but very little actually happened plot wise. lots of tangents.

It didn’t keep my attention as well as the first book

It felt like there was too much exposition in the book. I had a hard time with it through the middle. I’ll probably get the next one in the hope it is better.

the cat...

...the new smelling salt. best line of the book. come for the pocket healer cat and stay for the pocket healer cat. honestly not sure what kind of series it would be without that cat.

Great crunchy story

I felt like I had to respond to other reviews that say this book is too heavy on the stat and skill descriptions. I disagree. This book is a bit heavy on the skill and stat descriptions, but I think it enhances the story. Great characters and awesome world building.

Friends Growing Together

I love the cat and the super hero friendship. This book explores growing stronger while retaining tenderness and love

Stat page lol

I like the story and premise you’re going for. The abundance of stats progression was a bit tedious, but I have the wonderful “skip 30 seconds” button that I click twice every time you would go over them. So I wasn’t that bothered. Overall, good story, good plot, a bit slow but I don’t mind a slow story progression. My biggest improvement would be to add more story content to match the level of stat progression your building. Will read the next book.

Good story, but way too much time on the stats page

I really enjoy this story line and the characters. I would like to keep following it, but the first seven chapters weee Loretta much all spent in the recital of the characters stats. It’s half the book. Thats lazy.

Book 2 a real challenge to finish

I enjoyed book 1 mostly because from becoming invested in the primary and secondary characters backstories. However, book 2 larded the story with pace-killing stats recitals after every change in every companion; whether it be due to level change, equipment acquired or or skill received. Sam's cat companion dialogue was irritating and became ridiculous after acquiring a friendly mimic that had the mannerisms of a dog.

I won't be continuing this series.

Frustrating

Constant, pointless tangents: the book.

Everything in this is over explained to the point that my eyes (ears?) glaze over, like the author thinks the exposition is much, much more interesting than it is.

It messes with the pacing something fierce. An incredibly frustrating experience.

Also, the rarity system doesn't translate well to the audio book experience. I can see 'Two stars, one filled in,' translating well in a pictogram, but it just doesn't translate when I'm related this several times over in audio.
