About this listen

Everybody wants a second shot at life....

Few get that restart. Chosen by roaming angels and sent off to another world full of magic and cultivation, where they can live in ways that could only be dreamed of on Earth. Where the only thing that dictated their fate was power.

Anyone who met Chance would have agreed that he deserved it more than most.

Life isn't that easy. Just like everything else, there are rules and regulations—and Chance didn't make the cut. Not until a lucky encounter gets him a one-way ticket to his future. A world where he can make something of himself.

If only he hadn't landed in the middle of an endless maze full of monsters salivating for his life. Isolated and lost, the only thing Chance has to work with is his strange, luck-based magic and his determination to finally live a life worth living.

Fortunately, he has a whole lot of good karma built up.

Don't miss the next hit progression fantasy cultivation series from Actus, best-selling author of Blackmist and Cleaver's Edge. Join the adventure of a Karmic Cultivator in a brutal new world who refuses to compromise his values on his quest to grow stronger. Sometimes, luck isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Really enjoyed it t.

Great story. The MC isn’t stupid and isn’t OP. It strikes a great balance between story and balance progression.

Truck-Kun Isekai RPG without the Crunch

Been a fan of Actus for some years now - he’s been on a streak of creating new settings - this one doesn’t have the hard/codified mechanics seen in some of his other works, which is a nice change - the characters, especially the two male leads, have good characterization - Chance is among fastest learning/growing main character in fiction which was a little much for me despite being well explained in the text - I always feel like I’m most engrossed in Actus’ stories when they end, which may be good (draws you in for the sequel) or bad (would be nice to be pulled along so intensely for the rest of the story) - that said, it’s an easy read and a quick listen - this is the first time Actus has used this voice actor as far as I know, so I was a bit thrown off at first, but he’s excellent, so I quickly got used to hearing this combination of prose and voice - another good read - Actus is a prodigious writer, churning out books full of new setting and characters, but I’m looking forward to seeing a sequel to this one soon

Great start in a new series by Actus. So go grab Gleam!

I love Gleam, it's a story of a city, in the first book of a brand new series by Actus! Introducing Chance a fantastic MC in Actus' new Isekai adventure! Where power building is key for survival, not only for Chance but for all the members of his team, which includes Yeo and Bella... I'm definitely looking forward to following this series as Actus takes us on his magical keyboard following Chance and the city Gleam...
Ohhhh and I did enjoy Peter Lister's narration.

Amazing characters

It’s rare that side characters are as interesting as the main character. Even more so when they aren’t being overshadowed. The author did an amazing job making every character feel important. Great book looking forward to the next one.

Slightly innovative take on isekai

Generally a good story with an admirable MC. I found some of his verbal tics annoying: "If it's not rude, may I ask..." I hate that. Still, the guy has a strong backbone, so I can let him have one flaw.

The narrator has a gravelly voice that he really can't disguise, so all the characters sound kinda the same, but it works. I think I would get tired of the voice after a book or two.

It was ok but not much else.

The weapon was cool but other than that there was a few things like joining a house group, but other than that i didnt find it all that interesting.
