About this listen

From the author of the award-winning novel The Wangs vs. the World and the Amazon Original The List comes a timely and thought-provoking exploration of the small moments that change us in big ways.

In You’ve Already Changed Your Life, Jade Chang posits that humans are infinitely adaptable, that the seeds of personal transformation are sown when we least expect it, and that identifying your own small (but profound!) shifts will help you retell the story of your life.

As Jade shares the unlikely moments that changed her forever, we join her on a quest to understand what makes people who they are. She takes us from a surprising history of personality tests to a debunking of the popular science theory of the reptile brain, with several unexpected stops along the way, all with her characteristic charm and wit. Part memoir, part investigation into the science of the mind, this Audible Original questions the old stories we’ve told ourselves about our capacity for change and gives you a blueprint to discover all the ways that you have, indeed, already changed your life.

Absolutely loved content AND narration!

Insightful with tons of great research to back up the author’s points. Presented perfectly by Jade herself, with properly enthusiastic pitch and tone that creates an easy and enjoyable listen for the reader.

Interesting Thoughts

The author has some interesting thoughts about change, the brain, and being willing to change as a catalyst. It was worth the time. I skipped the part about Freud, 5 mins, because I just don’t like his theories. If you have a couple hours, give it a whirl.

Content is ok but all over the place.

I found the book not very organized, too many unimportant details or facts and often not getting to the point.
I wish someone else read for her, I find her voice and style very much like a teenager with an attitude, so I had a really hard time listening to her.

Go set the works on fire../

Good book tho more of the author’s own musing and stories related to her interest in personality traits and common philosophy studies. Did like some of the points she made and like her always good to be reminded don’t have to do what you don’t want to without any need for apologies.

Lovely narration. Relatable and informational

The narration was suoer easy to follow. It felt like a conversation with a good colleague. I particularly enjoyed the new learning acquured via reference to scientific and philosophical theories. All in all a good listen and lovely tidbits that wereuseful.

Maybe Better for Younger People

I liked learning about the real facts behind the marshmallow test, Freud and his relatives who still influence us today, and more details about the psych tests on Facebook and how they were used to manipulate us. Those three things made the book worth listening to all the way through. However, I didn’t learn anything new—like a new tool or a new way to look at things. But I am almost 60 what she probably intended to reveal I had already learned a long time ago. Overall, it reminded me the Edgar Cayce saying, “Know thyself to be thyself”. The author needs to learn more about vaccines from Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai. There are other ways to protect yourself without vaccinations.

Uh oh.

I left a review and mentioned something about enjoying the content but struggling with the narration. Well, I had it at 1.1x speed. So…. If you’re looking at this title and decide to buy it…. do yourself a favor and listen at regular speed. Unless you enjoy the valley girl, gen y type sound. 😂

I am grateful to have heard a different opinion of seeing life and the focus that the narrator gives it, I also loved the slow way of narrating that it gives
