About this listen

International politics meets immortal blade

The war-mongering kingdom of Cai has begun to stir once again, the long held peace brought to the brink by a widespread drought. Now, the neighbouring kingdoms of Wei and Shen must ally together to deal with the Cai or see the flames of war spread over both nations once again.

Wu Ying is brought into the negotiations for his reputation and strength, but the former farmer and now Head of the Wandering Gatherers is a fish out of water in these political waters. More and more, he wonders where morality and practicality end as he watches the maneuverings of those in power, all while the hungering maw of the Cai kingdom and its powerful king watch over the squabble.

Between kingdoms and cultivators and the demands of an all consuming dao, can there be a peace that isn't won at the end of a blade?

A Thousand Li: the Fourth Fall is the eleventh book of the xianxia series, A Thousand Li. It's the second book of the final arc of Wu Ying's journey to immortality, the trials and tribulations he faces and the leg of his journey. Tao Wong is the bestselling author of the System Apocalypse, Hidden Wishes and Adventures on Brad series.

Good continuation

I seem to be saying this a lot these days; a middle book in a series that gets locked into a singular storyline. It’s done well but I miss the rest of the story lines that make the series so enjoyable. Hope to see more in the next one!

I guess decent story

Probably in my opinion, the worst book of the series. It’s not that it wasn’t a good read. It was just all filler. The only positive thing that happened that was exciting was in the first couple of chapters. I can’t wait until he gets back to gathering and meeting interesting and new people.

Top tier as always

Definitely without a doubt the best cultivation story. Absolutely, crazy how much the characters have grown and overall the story progression. Tao Wong thank you do much for this addition to a great story. Travis thank you as always for bringing the story to life with this expert narration and performance.

A masterful blend

Vivid as ever, the seamless blend of intense battles and reflective moments captivated me from beginning to end. Tao Wong masterfully delves into themes of perseverance and personal growth, making this a standout entry in the series.

Criticism often comes from mismatched expectations. This book excels in depth and nuance…let new readers judge its brilliance for themselves.

Subtle but Violent Action

Tao Wong’s The Fourth Fall, the 11th book in the A Thousand Li series was good. Really good. Wong spends a long time setting up everyone. Sides. Powers. Suspicion. Then he springs the fight. And a fight it is. Fantastic stuff here. One of if not the best book in the series, yet. DRmz 11-18-24

This was a rough one

The writing quality was still good and the story was good but rough on Wu Ying. I guess there has to be ups and downs, probably my least favorite book of the series but I'll still probably listen to it again.

lackluster

It seemed like the author phoned this one in. I feel like essence of this novel would have been a better short story, as nothing happened. I can only point out two real things that mattered and everything else was superfluous

What a major letdown! New story arc same plot line.

It would be nice if the Author could come up with a different storyline than having the main character heavily injured at the end of every other book in this series. Then the main character has to spend the next book or two to find a way to heal himself. I will say the writing is quite nice and flow elegantly. Despite the excellent writing the story arcs keeps repeating themselves. I think this is now the third time the main character has several injured himself at the end of the book so much so that he has to spend the next couple of books to try to find a way to fix the damage. But of course, since this is going to be the main character, “final adventure”, the injury at the end of this book had to be the greatest of them all.
