About this listen

Never trust a dragon—even Jonathan knows that.

With his peaceful life as a scholar far behind him and his ever-growing mountain of debt to the Department of Taxation hanging over him, Jonathan can't afford to play it safe. If he wants to get his castle back, he'll need to take a few risks. At least he's not facing danger alone.

Whether it's his faithful butler, a former paladin, a shapeshifter who might have gotten stuck, a land-loving merman, a wandering werewolf, a huntress in disguise, or a raccoon who can remodel the landscape, Jonathan will have plenty of company as he runs (or is dragged) headlong into danger. And he'll need every bit of help he can get if he wants to make it through their next mission alive.

For once, Jonathan isn't the one being rescued. Nope. He and the others have been asked to brave the perils of a legendary dragon's labyrinth to help another vampire prove that love really does conquer all. Or maybe it doesn't when "all" includes elementals, zombies, and only the gods know what else. After all, nothing says probable death like a dragon with a smile.

Oh well. Jonathan might not be a fan of probable death… but he'll take it over certain death any day of the week.

Worth the wait

I read the book and had been waiting for its audio.
It's so worth the time!
Joel's narration is so incredible. I can see all the characters interacting clearly in my imagination.
How one person can narrate these numbers of characters and give everyone their voices I will never know.
The story is also outstanding. Extremely action-packed!
Love Jonathan. And now, he has one more friend (?) to travel with.
The interlude about the dragon's friendships made me cry, and then scream a bit about the 'Certain' one.
I can't wait for the next, and the next, and the next.

once I got use to it, the back stories are the best. shows the tie ins to the characters.

it took a bit of getting use to when the author changes stories in the middle of a main story.

Enter THE Dragon

An enjoyable and worthy continuation of a great series. The characters are growing into the promise of greatness that is their birthright. The antagonists are are fully fleshed out, and enjoyable supporting characters show up with welcome regularity. The author avoids the trap of resting on the laurels of having a few interesting protagonists, and just working them to death in book after book. That usually loads to a stagnation of any series.

'Nuff said! The cameo appearance was surprising, but welcome.

Keeps me intrigued

The character development, the intellectual mish mash and the abiding friendships make the series wonderful. Can’t hardly wait for the next installment

Diverse characters!

Good and evil take all forms. Don't let size be your judgment and leave all prejudice at the door.

Favorite one yet

This story was truly beautiful and fun. You’ll be dicing onions towards the end. In a way this is actually three stories in one go that manage to fit together in the end. I also enjoyed the quick shout outs to other characters in other series. But my most favorite part is the simple friendship between dragon, raccoon, and squirrel and how one deals with loss

We'll win with the power of friendship

Great writing over all. Distinct characters that you want to see grow and succeed that are brought to life with great narration. A few parts drag on a bit, but nothing major. A great continuation to the series. If you enjoy this authors other works, you'll enjoy this as well.

Strong ending

the book got off to a slow start, but the ending was very strong. it was worth the credit just for the story about the dragon that controls the labyrinth.

Worth the wait

I love this author, I love this series and I loved this book.

L.G. Estrella is a master of quirky frivolity, intermixed with casual, extreme violence.

The Unconventional Heroes tie in was absolutely amazing as well.
