About this listen

The raid did not turn out to be what he was expecting…

After some unsettling news brought to them by an unexpected messenger, Prince Edgar fled the Raid Dungeon to hurry back to his kingdom, leaving Derek as the impromptu leader. Being concerned about his people on the outside, Derek chose to rule with an iron fist to finish the dungeon as soon as possible. This choice didn’t make him any friends, but he didn’t need any for it to work.

By taking the strongest to battle, he was able to lead the remaining party members to a successful dungeon completion, though, not without casualty. Things are never easy. On their way out of the dungeon, Derek and Silvi were abducted by a strange elf of unknown power. This man, known only as Dave, was strangely helpful and shared much of Derek’s own distaste of the system interference that had been occurring ever since his evolution. Now, with more questions than ever before, and answers to questions that he’d never thought to ask, Derek and Silvi head back to Savannah to lend their help. What has happened to Cydaria? Was Edgar and Lyra leaving the raid the correct decision? Did Cydaria even need the prince’s help? What does dragon taste like when properly cooked?

Don’t miss the sixth installment of Derek’s journey in the System Universe. Join Derek in this unique combination of the LitRPG, Isekai, and Slice of Life genres. He has friends, a bond that should last forever, and even a home. What more could our overpowered protagonist ask for?

Still Good

Still good, most long running series tend to lose interest at this point but this one hasn’t.

One of the best LitRPG series

As always, I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely not the best book of this series, but it was still enjoyable.

Minor complaints:

1) Politics are boring.
2) No dungeon diving or adventures.
3) Way too short! Other than cleaning up after the war, nothing really happened.

I'm glad Derek's companion was actually a companion in this book.

I beg the author not to have Derek go back to his old planet! He already said that there were no attachments left on earth, so there really isn't a reason for him to go back. I'm more interested in seeing what happens with his old system expanding.

Excelent history, narrator looks like reading for us to sleep

He cannot interpret different emotions. Always the same tone. All the books erre the same. The history, however, is in my top 5 best of all time.

Beautiful delicious book series is back!

Derek shows 2 kingdoms what FAFO is and Sylvie is a delight sprinkled throughout. I can’t get enough of them.

Great Series; OK Book

Let me start by saying that I love this series. Up until this book, I voraciously read each book a couple times. Like, unable to sleep because I needed to get through “just one more chapter”. I think I’ll stick to the one reading with this one, though. It’s OK. It’s not bad. I liked it.

I just felt this book was filler to get the next arc. I mean, I get it, I guess, but, compared to the rest of the series, nothing really happens. There are no big reveals or cool new abilities. Just pieces set up to be moved later. It was the first time in the series my mind wandered and I had to rewind to figure out what I missed.

Unfortunately, much of the book was focused on kingdom control and development… and the many meetings that have to take place to get a nation on its feet. The little action the book does have in it has the MC showboating that he could be used as the ultimate weapon against a two nation army and never feel like he was at any risk.

During one of the many meetings the reader has to slog through, I noted that it felt like I was in a social studies class. I know people who enjoy that sort of thing, but it’s not for me.

Also, annoyingly, the MC’s tone in all of these meetings moved from lighthearted levity to acting like a child just because he can. No one can touch him and everyone knows it. Especially the MC. So I guess that gives Derrick the right to act like a total jerk. That rubbed me the wrong way.

I’m concerned about the tone of the MC for future books. Nothing in this book could do anything more than scratch him. I’m worried the author might be hitting the “overpowered MC brick wall”: when there’s little that can harm the MC, it is difficult for some authors to up the ante and keep readers invested. Adventures stop being as fun when even the MC knows he can sleepwalk through any adversity.

I still recommend the series. I just hope the next arc - the rather obvious arc I thought we’d be starting in this book - starts at the beginning of the next book.

Needs work but enjoyable

Good story. It was hard to finish, but I’m glad I was able to.

Negative: Narrator read the combat as if he was reading the biography of mundane man existence. Very boring and not at all captivating combat.

Positive: The narration of the “slice of life” aspect of this series was great! Very fun to see new characters that Derek gets along with.

Great series, but not my favorite book in it

Notice how the summary feels like it is more focused on the previous book than this one? That's how the entire book felt to me.

Not poorly done or anything, but be expect this book to mainly be catching up from previous events.
