No matter how powerful you become, it’s hard to let go of the fear that grows in you when you’re weak. It grows along with you.
Arthur Leywin may have survived the Relictombs, but he immediately finds himself embroiled in something far more complex and dangerous: Alacryan politics.
Accused of crimes he didn’t commit, Arthur is forced to defend himself without drawing the attention of his most powerful enemies.
He quickly discovers that the best place to hide may be in plain sight as he continues his quest for the power to control Fate itself. It is a race against time, however, as the greatest threat of the war so far closes in on Arthur’s loved ones in Dicathen. Without him, they are defenseless, but if he returns too soon, all hope is truly lost.

Wow

A downside, was that it felt a bit rushed with many different view points. However, I liked the insight into Seris(spelling?). Great work to the author on improving in each book! I love reading/listening and respect the hard work!
Ascension's refresh with Ether arts brought me back into the series and got me re-hooked. The series has it's weaknesses, but I am liking the overall story look forward to the next entry.
A few examples of improvements for those on the fence:
New female character Kara is much better written than Tes. with more adult thoughts and realistic emotions(wife's words).
We get a lot more of Arthur working through his trauma as well which is better narative in my opinion.
In the end, I recommend this series as a great read between your next Brandon Sanderson book or Will wight Cradle series book.
Better, much better
