About this listen

No one leaves a negotiation happy.

But wounded pride aside, Sylver was overjoyed with how everything turned out.

He left with a talented clairvoyant, an army of highly skilled dark elves, a talking golden crowbar, the finger of the greatest lich to ever exist, and all it cost him was a fraction of a fraction of a century.

Sadly Eira didn’t simply stop and wait for his return, Lola became a king, Bruno concocted abominations, Faust drowned his sorrows in powders and elixirs, and the ever-looming threat of High-Elves and Krists, loomed more than ever.

There was also the problem of a wandering [Hero], Sophia’s disappearance, rumours of a Sun demon, and further minor issues that were on Sylver’s seemingly endless to-do list.

But the important thing was, he had a way to find Edmund, and all the cultivators, country sized mountains, ancient dragons, and swamp witches in the world weren’t going to be enough to stop him.

Book 5 of this Fantasy LitRPG Series about a reincarnated necromancer growing in power and finding his way in a new world where the rules have changed vastly since he last "lived."

About the series: With equal parts humor and dark sorcery action, expect loads of skill progression, deep worldbuilding, and unforgettable characters in this story which had nearly 10 million views on Royal Road. Now completely revised and re-edited for Kindle & Audible.

Enjoyable but that last chapter...

it was a good continuation of the series but the last chapter is just the last half of the one before it repeating again and kind of ruined it because I thought I had one more chapter left just to hear it repeating instead.

Slower Than Before, But Still Good

This book is still the same quality as all the previous ones in terms of characters, magic, and worldbuiliding. We get to see a few threads from the first two books start to come together, but overall this is mostly setup. In many ways, it's similar to the second half of book three (when Sylver is in the Garden's plane).

Honestly, the placing of these books is really painful. The story arcs themselves are fine and nicely done, but the breaks in between "books" is really rough. The Garden arc should have been one entire book, as should have been this Cultivation arc. I suggest going back and reading the last few hours of Book 4 if you can (everything since Sylver left the Garden) so you don't get whiplash from how the story starts.

Still, I greatly enjoyed this and can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend.

A bit slower than the others but still good

This one contained more fluff, progressed a bit slower. It felt like either a setup for a bigger story (about the royalties and unnamed etc) or just filler, hard to tell. I still found it really well written, well edited, excellent performance by Garrett and excellent quality of all technical.

Interesting

Love the voice acting, and story has many layers to it. Love the complex characters.

Love Sylver but I think book has too much exposition

Loved all the previous Sylver books but what the heck happened to this book? Half the book was Sylver explaining something to Rhia, with the other half of the book actually being the plot. Also, why are we purposefully making our op lich so weak to Ki? It almost felt like a filler, like the author was stretching this book out to get to the next. I left a comment in the previous novel about how I loved that the author didn’t prolong the story. But then he does the complete opposite here. Please do better in the next novel. Looking forward to seeing how Sylver saves his team and comes out on top!

Still love the series but this one had too much filler

I've loved the series so far. It has a lot twist and turns. The magic system is great and the interpersonal dynamics between the main characters really works. The fights are very well thought out. I liked that we are properly introduced to this story's take on cultivation and how the two magic systems interact. A staple of this series is the constant mockery of your standard litrpg story. With mana users it's about how the system makes getting power too easy so you have a bunch of idiots teleporting all around the place. With cultivators it's the cyclical nature of events when you have super humans run your society with a psudeo eastern honor based system.

I will rate this book lower than the rest because there is too much filler. We have been on this "find Edmund" story line for three books now. There were so many unnecessary events, fights, interactions and side quests. The whole story line with the two heirs could have been cut out. It's like the writer was just going for a word count and is stalling to move on from this Edmund story plot. It's giving me Kugane Maruyama's overlord vides. Which isn't a good thing if you haven't got the hint. It too was a series that started off great but it became obvious that the writer ran out ideas to move the story forward. Now the last couple of volumes are a bunch of exposition, side quests and fights that either don't go anywhere or just wastes of time. I hope that's not what this series turns into. I hope the writer's vision extends beyond this current plot line so we can have a story that actually progresses.

On the production side of things the narrator is ok not great as always. We also have a repeat chapter. So I don't know if something is missing or not.
