Publisher's summary

The sickly servant. A powerful young master. An alliance Kingdoms are made from.

Centuries before a certain dungeon first met a wise pink wisp, the world was torn apart by war. For a time, even the Guild was shaken to its core as a wave of necromantic cultivators surged forth from the dark corners of the earth.

Garron feels the impact of war differently than most, as a servant in the estate of a Mage that left for the war. The young lord Andros and his servant have been left in the tender care of the ambitious cultivator, Jackson. The workload is a death sentence: Andros is forced to train in near-isolation, and Garron has fallen ill. One fateful night, they make a run for survival and freedom.

Jackson doesn’t take kindly to his meal ticket vanishing into the night. The Hunt is on.

Starts out with a real Tom and Huck kinda vibe!

This was really fun... after receiving book2 Roar I decided to pick-up "Hunt" bk1 so I wouldn't find myself foundering and I'd know exactly what's going on! I did find this book to a slow starter. As it's about to boys Andros and Garron after escaping from their assigned Stewart a very evil man... Initially it has a real Tom and Huck vibe, with our boys a lordling and his best friend a servant at his side. But I was already absorbed into their adventure. It wasn’t until Garron accidentally ran across a young dungeon with zero power of it's own. That Garron under duress made a pact with the dungeon wisp Talia.
You're gonna need this book to find out what happens next. Better yet grab the audio because Daniel Wisniewski is great!

The Ending

The very last few lines gave me chills. Made me so excited for the next book.
Full of ups and downs, excitement, well written.

Excellent addition to the Divine Dungeon Series

Absolutely wonderful start of a series and seamless integration into an already existing universe. The characters were well fleshed out with incredibly organic interactions and drives you could relate to. The addition to the lore was well executed, despite the placement in the timelines within the rest of the Divine Dungeon Series. If you love the other books in this series you will love this as well.

Decent start, but slow tempo

Overall this was a decent story, a good start to a new chapter in the Devine Dungeon series. But the tempo was way too slow. The slowness was both from the narrator and the content of the book itself. I had to listen to it at 1.2X normal speed just to get the flow correct for my ears.

The MC’s were fleshed out pretty well and should provide for even better content in the next book in this series. I look forward to the next book with hope and confidence.

I just wish Dakota Krout would stop using other authors to complete portions of his series, he’s too good a writer to weaken his content with outside sources

Fantastic

This is definitely a great start to a series, I'm definitely ready for more. There's a twist at the end of the book that I definitely wasn't expecting, and I'm ready to see how the author plays on it more!

More wonderful stories in the realms of the Divine

I have thoroughly enjoyed everything in the Divine Dungeon catalog, including the spin off series. It's really nice to start fresh with some "fishies" again in a new series. The stakes feel high, and true challenges stand in front of the protagonists. We get more of the humor we love, all the cultivation, and new characters to follow on a journey of discovery and growth. Can't wait for more!

Kevin McCallister Cultivation

Mini spoiler but if you're on this book, I expect you have listened to/read the others so not so bad. This is "Cal and Dale weren't first/ humans and dungeon work together " book. Its a entertaining story but at this point, I would much rather have more Rexus or Bibliomancer than get another group of characters who more than likely won't be important unless Tatum becomes significantly more focused on in Artorian's Archives. There is nothing particularly new going on here, more of a "what if Dale and Cal worked together" and instead of regular dungeon stuff, traps galore.

Refreshing

Enjoyable! The narrator voice add to the depth and graveness of the story. Less puns and more epic. Really great overall. Looking forward to the next in the series. Follows more along the feeling of DD.

Good

You already know the world mechanics are solid. We get balanced cultivation, dungeon cores and a boat load of action.

Why do I do this to myself!

Every time I get a book in the Divine Dungeon universe I burn through it too fast! I even listened to the most recent Artorian book twice in a row, because I listened to it the first time in a day and a half. I am grateful Dakota Krout is working with other authors and is publishing so many books. I have tried other RPG novels, but haven't found any I like as well as Mountain Dale Press books Sigh, I need to try to pace myself, but they are just too good.
