“Sheep, sheep, sheep ... I have bad news for you. It’s finally my turn.”

Solstice, the secret organization running the Galactic Union, has made an enemy of The Last Horizon. Soon, they will regret it.

Varic and Omega have a plan to infiltrate and destroy Solstice’s leaders, removing another threat to the galaxy. Compared to the apocalyptic monsters the crew has faced in the past, this opponent should be simple.

Omega has waited decades for his chance at revenge before becoming the pilot of The Last Horizon. He will do anything for vengeance…or so he believes.

Victory will demand more from Omega than he imagines, and it won’t be as easy as he hopes.

Solstice has Zenith Devices of their own.

The Pilot is the first in the series where severe sacrifices needed to made by and extremely negative consequences occur to the Last Horizon crew. Will does a great job of maintaining his high octane pacing with plenty of fun along the way. However, he truly sticks the landing in this one and perfectly sets up the next novel in the series.

Great twists, turns, and an even better ending

Will Wight doesn’t usually leave the story like this. Its refreshing. I can’t wait to see what happens. Very impactful entry into an otherwise light hearted series.

Cliffhanger?

It's a great edition to the series! boy sure how I was going to feel about openly magical space wizards, but it's a good ride if a story so far. Can't wait for the next one!

Bravo, Will!

Why can't you just write 20hr books????!!!! This was such a tease!!! ughhhhhhhh. It's like if you played the last of us 1 and it ended with Joel getting swung at with a golf club from abby and it goes to black.

I can't stand you WILL!!!

The backstory with omega was really good. I’m a little confused about why their daughter is still going after him. I hope they explain more of that. The ending was insane. I can’t believe he finally unleashed just cursed magic. I can’t wait for the next one. It was worth a year long wait.

Man that ending spoiler warning

At least have the next book ready in less than a month with a great ending and cliff hanger like that

I've been a huge fan of Will Wight for a long time, and we're lucky to have a narrator as skilled and talented as Travis Baldree. That said, both are doing some of their best work here. Wight has truly found his stride—his writing feels more confident, focused, and true to his unique voice.

At long last, we’re diving into the past of the titular character, Omega. I already liked him from the books, but Baldree completely exceeded my expectations. Omega doesn’t sound anything like I imagined—and that’s a very good thing. He’s so much better than I ever pictured. Baldree gives him the perfect mix of manic energy and borderline psychosis, while also deepening the character and bringing him vividly to life.

If there’s ever an animated series, please let Travis Baldree stay on as Omega.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Wight is at the Height of His Game, Baldree still steals the show

I was just happy to spend more time with these characters—once again brilliantly brought to life by the incredible Travis Baldree. This series has been pure entertainment from the start. Memorable characters, hilarious dialogue, an engaging story, and top-tier action… it’s simply a great time that always brings a smile to my face.

The Pilot didn’t disappoint, though I’ll admit it was slightly less enjoyable for me than the earlier books. I appreciated the shift to a heavier tone—it added some emotional weight and variety—but I didn’t find myself quite as drawn into the story. It felt like the author was trying to raise the stakes for the crew, but instead of making the new villains feel genuinely more dangerous, it came across more like the heroes were being nerfed just to manufacture tension.

I understand that the other Zenith devices are more combat-focused and technically more powerful than the Horizon, but I struggled to buy that the sword Zenith’s bearer could take down the entire crew so effortlessly. That imbalance didn’t quite land for me.

Omega’s backstory was compelling, but I didn’t feel especially invested in Aila as a character. Still, the book is absolutely worth the listen, and as always, Baldree’s narration elevates the entire experience. I’m not a fan of cliffhangers, so I’m really hoping the next installment drops soon!

Least enjoyable of the 4 books but still awesome.
