Learn how to reboot your metabolism, build strength, and extend your life with this accessible new guidebook that demonstrates the importance of muscle for health and longevity from the founder of the Institute for Muscle-Centric Medicine®.

After years of watching patients cycle through her practice, Dr. Gabrielle Lyon noticed a pattern. While her patients struggled with a wide range of conditions, they all suffered from the same core problem: they had too little muscle rather than too much fat.

When we think about muscle, we tend to think about strength or aesthetics, but in reality, muscle accounts for so much more than that. As the body’s largest endocrine organ, muscle actually determines everything about the trajectory of health and aging. Many of the conditions Dr. Lyon’s patients were experiencing were actually symptoms of underdeveloped or unhealthy muscle.

Now, Dr. Lyon offers an easy-to-follow food, fitness, and self-care program anchored in evidence and pioneering research that teaches you how to optimize muscle—no matter your age or health background. Discover how to overcome everything from obesity to autoimmune disorders and avoid diseases like Alzheimer’s, hypertension, and diabetes by following Dr. Lyon’s powerful new approach to becoming forever strong.

Extra motivation

While I’ve strength trained for many years, some days I just don’t want to. So I don’t. The mindset is so important. This book helps with my motivation by helping to shift my mindset and remember why strength training is so important as I go into my last third of life. The author spends a good deal of time on mindset. Solid strength training exercises are offered as well as info on the other crucial components of good health, such as nutrition, protein especially.

Usable

This book is wonderful and full of advice with clear steps on how to apply to your daily life. Dr Lyon hits the nail on a head with addressing habits and mental framework as the most important ingredient of success. I’ve been following Dr Lyon on insta for a while but this book accented how much passion she puts in her work to help people achieve better life and health. I love it!

Well-explained, actionable, evidence-based health plan

Muscle-centric health is where the science is pointing us in medicine, despite how siloed different fields can sometimes feel. Dr. Lyon does a great job of explaining and summarizing the science and delivering actionable protocols to make applying the science to our own health a lot less daunting.

Felt like a sales pitch

Felt more like a sales pitch for a fad diet than solid science around protein intake for healthy aging (and living). There was science in there. So I got what I needed from it, but I had to weed out some of the junk.

Listen to it at 1.5 speed

Great content! The producer did Dr. Lyon no favors. The reading style was tortuous: Every. Single. Sentence. Was. Read. As. If. Each. Sentence. Was. The. MOST. Important….. EVER.

I advise the listener to either buy the book or listen at 1.5x speed

Good content but low performance

I purchased the book for it's content, but Gabrielle is not a great reader of her own book. She makes pauses in all the wrong places and it's very annoying.

One of my favorite books of the year

I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in about a week. I am also a geriatrician and working in Obesity Medicine. I like this new paradigm of muscle of being the organ of Longevity. I've read so many books on health and wellness. There were a lot of great pearls of wisdom in this book. I like that it is evidence based. There's so many different opinions on diet and the information in this book made a lot of sense to me.
