About this listen

When the flames of the Demon Wars threaten to engulf the land, only a tiny shrub can save the day.

Shrubley, the Hero Adventurer, has vanquished the serpentii threat. Everything he ever wanted is within his twiggy grasp: fame, fortune, adoration, and the love of the people who had once shunned him for being a monster. But Shrubley is an adventurer at heart.

Along with his monstrous friends, Cal, Slyrox, and Smudge, Shrubley embarks on a long journey to the fabled monster city of Pandaemonium.

Guided by Countess Haalften, Shrubley seeks to master his Sage Knight essence healing powers even as vampyrs, monsters, and bandits ambush the party along the way.

But Shrubley's knack for enmeshing himself in grand schemes is without equal. He stumbles upon a plot to use rogue Dungeons to reignite the Demon Wars between monsterkind and the core races of Almora.

Few would expect the lowliest of all monsters to be the savior of both mankind and monsterkind. After all, how could one shrub stop a plot decades in the making? You could ask the serpentii the same thing—if there were any left.

the world could use a Shrubley right now

This book was a good way to escape of reality. We could use more people doing good because it is just the right thing to do.

Loved it

More fun Shrubley adventures with some great new characters and challenges. I didn't notice as many blanant discworld references as the first book, but that did not hamper my enjoyment at all.

Great Book

My only quirk is I wanted it to be Majoram-ly instead of majora-ly. Keep it up oregano gangsta! Waiting for the next books! PS “Vampire Core” make that a book please.

Looking for something not shit?

It's hard to put a finger on why I've loved these two books so much so far. Travis is amazing as always but this author really makes realistic characters and an original plot come to life. Also... the countess is..erm..well anyway 5/5 will listen to all of the books. Side note I do hope the author knows where the books are going and doesn't get lost like so many other decent series starts I've come across.

Great for those wanting to enjoy a fanatsy with a light tone.

I really like this story, but it needs more falling action before getting to the cliff hanger.

Still fun, but still unoriginal

I won't say it's a bad audiobook (narrator did a fabulous job as usual), but the authors are still lifting ideas and characters wholesale from existing works. Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 14, Kirby, Majora's Mask... come on guys, you're better than that.
