Don't let title throw you off

Although some might be attracted to the book by the title, others (that might REALLY benefit) might be turned off by it. It's an excellent book, promoting a far better understanding of self, needs and skills to improve effective emotional management AND communication with self and others! It bridges the gaps we have between words/language and a deep understanding of what things really mean and how to apply it all. Chapters end with summarized key points, exercises and tips! Extremely well thought out and written.

Very helpful

I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder a few years ago and I’ve been trying pretty much everything I’ve seen in ways of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and most are pretty dry and hard to get into without falling asleep. This was easy to listen to and I found the narrator very soothing. I plan on listening to this over and over because it has a lot of helpful information.

great reality-based

this is a great addition to the dbt book. I took the classes years ago and this is a great reminder of how to keep things in control that seem out of reach

Extreme helpful with many good examples

I probably have very mild symptoms of the extreme cases spoken about in this book. I would guess almost anyone will benefit from it. For me it was peticularly useful for building skills relating to work management. Wish I could use Sheri in real life!

Great Lessons and info, but terrible recording

I'd definitely recommend this book to others as it provided immediate assistance in me dealing with my emotions. However I would prep them that the recording itself is pretty rough, especially in the beginning. You could literally hear where they were splicing the recordings together in editing and the lady's voice sounded extremely robotic throughout the book. But hey it's a small thing compared to the actual knowledge and skills gained. Thank you for this book and thank you for making it audio book as well.

Written in plain English

An easy and practical approach to learning DBT skills. The narrator and author do a great job with this one. Highly recommend.
