Life-changing, Yet Simple

I related to this book more than anything I’ve ever read or listened to on the self-help subject. Every chapter simply told a story about real-life situations, and how to take a step back. Gentle education rather than “do this, not that,” and the narrator’s voice is very pleasant. I find myself listening to this book when I’m feeling anxious and I feel better just hearing the principles and encouragement.

Finished and going to listen again!

The principles in this book are so powerful and they are presented in such a simple, easily-digested way. There is so much wisdom in this book, I would put it on my must reads of 2020 list because the concepts in it can help anyone! I highly recommend it, I really gained a lot from it!

Straightforward and Not Sanctimonious

*If your anxiety is based in complex trauma this book may not resonate with you. You may find it dismissive or overly simplistic but I do think there is valuable information that can help everyone**. I really related to some of the anxious behaviors and appreciate the author's POV. Not every chapter will apply to everyone and do not necessarily agree with everything written (mini spoiler alert) **, ie I don't think reconnecting with estranged family members is always a great idea. I did find the connection to anxiety and family different than other other books about anxiety.

All the Topics Hit Home with Me

My life coach recommended I check out this book and ,after finishing it, I can see why. Mrs. Smith points out the common fears and stresses that leads to my own anxieties and breaks down how they can be addressed. This isn't a "magic bullet" solution, but it does offer hope and perspective for those that worry needlessly. Definitely going to be rereading this one with notes now!

Wonderful book!

As a therapist and student of Bowen theory I highly recommend this book! I’ll be giving it to my clients. It allows you to better understand yourself in your most important relationships. It also makes Bowen theory more digestible.

A Must Read Book for the Anxious Soul

I’m a therapist who is connected to the theory of Murray Bowen, and until now I hadn’t read a book that simplifies his concepts as well as this book does. I’m sure it will help me be sure to function more for me, less for others, and calm myself down. I think this will help me be of even more help to my clients while it makes my family members curious to know more. I’m grateful for this work.

Best book on managing anxiety EVER

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s conversational, relatable, smart, and brilliantly written. I 100% recommended this book to anyone with anxiety of any kind - whether it be situational or clinical.
I’ll be listening to it again, I’m sure, when I need a refresher on how to calm down.

Do you get frustrated with people! LISTEN TO THIS

Ive done a lot of therapy and still do weekly and yet this book was refreshing and new to me/ the advice was more practical than most self help books and less of the common now a days “you’re a f&)@)& bada**” kind of thing which has never concretely helped me. I highly recommend listening to this, especially while walking. It helped me process some issues with a demanding mother and a demanding boss who I haven’t even worked for for over 6 months but still found myself fuming and imagining what I’d say to her if I had the chance every day and ending up in an anxiety spiral. The dating and love advice are solid too. Anxiety may never go away but I have more strategies now when it comes up. Will re listen again soon.
